Chapter 4

Harry's p.o.v

I sit next to Paige's hospital bed. She has yet to wake up since she passed back out after muttering the words poison. They flushed her body, they said she might not be able to talk for a few days, but she should get better. She was so close to dying. If we hadn't driven by, she would be dead right now.

"Hey, there's someone that wants to talk with us." Niall says, appearing in the doorway.

"Ok." I say, quietly.

I stand from my chair next to her and follow Niall into an office. The lady introduces herself as a DHS case worker and she has been assigned Paige's case.

"What is going to happen to Paige?" I ask.

"She will go into a foster home, temporarily, then she will be sent to a girls home." She says.

"I don't want that to happen." I say.

"I'm sorry, but that is our only option. She has no family to adopt her." She flatly says.

"I will adopt her." I say.

"Harry are you sure about that, I mean she is a teenage girl." Niall says.

"I'm sure. I don't want anything bad to happen to her anymore." I say.

"Mr. Styles Im afraid that is not possible." The case worker says.

"Why isn't it?" I question.

"You are not family." She says.

"Who cares. I have well above the means to take care of her." I say, aggravated.

"That isn't the point. You are a celebrity, your lifestyle is not a good environment for a child coming out of this horrifying event." She says.

"And you think that a temporary foster home and then a girls home is? we can offer her more love than they can. I am adopting her." My voice rises.

"Sir," she begins but I cut her off.

"I am Harry Styles and what I say goes." I angrily say.

Paige's p.o.v

My eyes flutter open slightly and I can see Harry setting in the chair next to me.

My throat is burning and my insides hurt. I don't know exactly where I am, or how I got here.

"Wa.... Wa.... ter." I painfully choke out.

Harry's head snaps up.

"Paige." He says, jumping up from the chair and standing above me.

Tears begin to roll out of my eyes.

"It's okay now. Your safe." He says.

He puts a straw into my mouth and I suck in the slightest bit of water, making my throat burn even worse.

I begin to cough and it makes every inch of my body feel pain.

"I'm going to get a doctor, okay." He says, before rushing out of the room.

A few seconds later, a nurse comes in and checks things.

"Hi honey, can you try talking for me?" She smiles.

"H...ur...ts." I manage out.

"I know, it's going to hurt, but you have to push through it. Your gonna be just fine now." She smiles.

"Where...a...m ....I?" I get out.

Harry takes my hand.

"Your in the hospital, your mom poisoned you and Niall and I found you. They flushed your body and your safe now. Your going to live with me and the boys, I adopted you." He says.

"You can't. That's to much trouble." I say, a little easier than before.

"I wanted to. Your my daughter now." He smiles.

I reach my arms out and engulf him in a hug.

"Thank you." I say, forgetting about the pain, forgetting about everything going on. All that matters now is that I'm safe. It's over.

3 days later

"Okay Hun, you ready?" The nurse says.

"Yes mam." I smile.

I have been in the hospital for three days now and I can talk normal now, with only slight pain, not as much as before.

They told me I could be released today, but to take it easy.

"Alrighty then. Be careful and stand up easy. Go slow." She says, helping me stand.

Harry appears in the doorway and takes my hand.

"Come on. We're going home." He smiles.

We walk to the back door of the hospital and get into his Range Rover. I am greeted by all of the boys, who help me into the car.

I am already breathing hard. Just little exercise makes me tired. They said I should be back to full strength soon. Harry closes the door and goes to the driver seat.

"We have a surprise for you at home." Zayn says.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Well you will just have to wait and see." Liam smirks.

"Not fair." I laugh.
