There was this time when I finished working overtime at my office. A normal desk worker. I had papers held loosely in my arms as I was running down the sidewalk heading to the bus stop; missing the 11:30 p.m. bus would've been catastrophic. During the fall season was always pretty chilly, the winds always blew your hair to and fro. One lucky piece of paper fell out of my grasp and was castaway by the turbulent wind; flapping freely and passed me by. You might be wondering why this one piece of flying paper was lucky, well that's because it hit smack in the face of a handsome fellow! Hehehe, this was how the two of us met. I'll refer to him as 'Min' or 'Mr. Min' from here on out, though--his name isn't Min. It's a secret.

002

I once looked back to our first meeting when we started dating; asking him why he was out so late that night. The answer he gave me was,

"I was looking for my fated person," in which I gave him a light smack on his head. He chuckled softly and honestly answered,

"I was actually there taking scenic night photos, who knew I'd be slapped by a piece of paper before I even took one photo," his brows started to furrow when he recalled this memory.

"..."

When I first told my two best friends, Juda and Vina about that fateful night with handsome Min, they scoffed in denial because my view of handsome men was different. What does that even mean?

"Bring a picture next time Lu, maybe the hunk of a man you were referring to was just an advertisement board that was in front of an anime store," Juda is like that one friend that is blunt and has an opinion on everything, and wears clothes for comfort; whereas Vina is an outgoing, pretty, and fashionable woman.

"Well, what was he wearing?" Vina questioned. Having been the smartest back in school out of the three of us, I had quite a good memory.

"He was wearing a loose black printed Tanjiro t-shirt with black sweats. Oh, he also had a DSLR camera dangling from his neck," I was really confident in my short description about him. Silence fell so suddenly that I didn't know what I said was wrong, until Vina pointed out,

"Did you mean that the Tanjiro anime printed t-shirt was the handsome man, or the physical human being the handsome man?" Juda gave a dull look in my direction before she turned away and continued to sip her iced tea.

"..."

And so, for the longest time until they met Min, they referred to him as Tanjiro. The same Tanjiro from the anime Demon Slayer.

I have a younger sister of two years named Liana. Liana always did better than I did when I was in her grade; she was also the more beautiful sister compared to me. But of course, school is just school, it doesn't justify how intelligent you are. It is only justifiable when my grades were higher than someone else's...

Anyways, back to my family. I can't tell you how many times I was scolded by my mom when Liana got married first, before I even had a boyfriend. The blind dates she put me through were just plain torture.

Everything about those days were horrific: the awkward silence of no topic to talk about, the fleeting of eyes after sudden eye contact, the shuffling of one's feet under the table, saying 'see you next time,' while hoping not to see you next time.

Extremely. Awkward.

Mr. Min always doubted my stories about my blind dates because of the stark contrast of personality of when I met and talked to them, compared to how I first met and talked to Min.

"You had me as your target all along, didn't you," said Mr. Min while crossing his arms into an 'X' in front of his chest like an innocent maiden.

Is that how you viewed me back then...

005

Mr. Min's move-in to cohabitate was relatively easy I'd say. But a certain Mr. Min always objected, claiming that I did nothing while he carried the burden of hustling everything inside.

I sometimes see the need to remind him that he was the one moving into my apartment and not the other way around.

...

Two big full boxes contained all his camera gear and equipment required for his job, yet when I offered myself to help, he had the audacity to say,

"Don't touch that, it's more fragile than you think, I'll do it myself."

I was just trying to help!
