Violet
I sat alone
in my quiet room
No music was playing
I was barely there too
I wished for sleep
for I wanted to dream my dreams
the escape from reality
was astonishingly baffling
My eyelids drooped
in danger of sleep
The sound of a banging
Awoke me from dreams
It was like the fire and the rain
All at once
But this time was bad
The smoke filled my lungs
I couldn't scream in pain
For I knew I'd be okay
Pain doesn't last
Not forever anyway
I ran out of my house
It wasn't really a home
I had nothing to leave behind
So I walked to school alone
The warm weather blossomed
People laughed and shrieked
I felt so alone inside
Always a nobody
The day passed by so slowly
But that I was thankful for
Every second I had to spend here
Made me wish for just one more
I walked through the dreary halls
Brightened by pale sunlight
People uttered and whispered
but I did not take flight
For once it wasn't me
they were talking about
I scanned the room for Jade
she'd know what it's about
My eye caught her red hair
She spoke to someone quietly
Always the gossip was Jade
Never without the news feed
Tiptoeing to her carefully
I excused her from her talk
In fact she looked relieved
It was Landon and not me
"He's got a secret crush
only James knows who it is
She's not apart of the swim team
nor the cheerleading squad, Violet wish!"
"Is that all you know?"
I wondered innocently
I barely knew what he looked like
But boy was he the king
The captain of football teams
The star of all the swim meets
He happened to be the girls' dreams
But he was no appeal to me
"He's supposed to be leaving her hints
Notes in lockers and subtle winks
The old school stuff from back in the day
Either he wants this girl or he wants a game"
