"Harper wake up." I heard a man's voice say next to me. I sat up quickly, hitting my head against the desk.

"Ow." I whispered. He started chuckling. I remembered the whole being on lock down and when I opened my eyes, I found it to be very dark. "What happen?" I asked panic clear in my voice.

"Some guys with guns got into the school's campus. The cops just barely got them so now we are free to go." he said. I smiled widely and crawled out from under the desk. I stood up and my legs felt great.

I knew they were going to me sore from all thou crouching down I had been doing. "I get to go home now." I said.

"Not quiet. They want every staff to watch over a group of students to make sure that they are okay, and now you have to come to my place." he said.

I stared at him in disbelief. "Really? Why can't I just go to my mom's place. She could watch me as well as you can. Beside, not many people like me here and it'll be hard to get along with those people. Especially if we have to stay at a house together for the night." I said.

"Harper, we have to watch the students that were with us during the lock down. That means that you will be the only student at my house." he said.

"Oh. Okay." I said. He grabbed his car keys and lead me to the door. He opened it. I walked out before him. The full moon was big and bright in the jet black sky. The stars shined around the moon and it felt like it was a dream. Like when my father used to look up at the sky with me. He would hold me tight signaling which one was the big dipper or the little dipper.

I felt my heart ache as I thought of him. the tears threatened to spill over. "Right this way." I heard Mr. Walsh say behind me. I blinked rapidly trying to clear my eyes. I turned around, keeping my head down, and followed him to his car. He had a silver Corolla S. I got in the passenger seat and saw that other students were also getting into teacher's car.

"So it wasn't a lie." I mumbled to myself. Mr. Walsh turned on his car and back out of the parking space. He turned the radio on, put the car into drive and pressed on the gas. We were out of school ground in less than a minute. "Could you drive any faster?" I asked, sarcasm deep in my words. He was going twice the speed limit and I was surprised none of the cops we had passed noticed.

"It's okay, I'm a professional." he said.

"A professional in killing people." I said. He laughed at my little joke, turning to look at me. "Eyes on the road!" I yelled when he swerved a little. He started laughing even harder, closing his eyes for almost a minute. I grabbed on the the door as tight as I could, which I guess wouldn't help in any way.

After a few minutes more of torture, slowed down. I looked at the houses around us and noticed that we were at the richest side of town. "You live in on of these houses?" I asked amazed at how huge they were.

"Yes ma'am, I do. I may be signle, but I do know how to save up my money." he said, a huge grin on his face.

"Not bad Mr. Walsh." I said. We stopped at a really big one story house. "How come you live in such a big place?" I asked. "I mean, you are single and I bet this house is twice as big as my mom's, but don't you feel lonely?"

I opened the door and stepped out into the cool air. "Well, I guess I do feel lonely, but I got Rover to keep me company."

I laughed at his dog's name. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "That is such a dogs name. What is he, a golden lab?" I said.

"He is a goldfish that I got two weeks ago." he said.

"You've got to be kidding me!" I said laughing again. "A goldfish named Rover. Who would have guessed?" I said. I walked after him to the front door. "How long am I suppose to stay here Mr. Walsh?" I asked him.

"Well we arent going to have school until next week, so I'm guessing all week. We can go by your place tomorrow and you can get a change of clothes." he said. I looked at him, my mouth practically on the floor. A whole week with the new hot teacher! "Kidding, you'll only have to stay here for two days then you can go back home. But I'm serious about school." he added.

We walked through the door and I immediately noticed the big red couch in his white living room that yelled SINGLE!!!! I tried so hard not to laugh. "Um, nice couch." I said, my voice a little strained.

"Thank you." he said oblivious to my voice. "I'll show you your room. I already have some girl clothes my sister left behind and I think she might be your size." he said looking me over.

I could feel my cheeks redden as he looked at me. He nodded to himself, turned around and kept walking. My heels clicked at they hit the wooden floors. I had to keep up with him so I wouldn't get lost in the dark. "Alright, Here we are." he said opening a door and turning on the light. Light floded into the hallway, helping me find my way to the door.

I peeked intot he room and saw that it was a baby blue color. The bed sheets were white with the pillow cases baby blue. Everything else was rustic. "This is nice." I said. I noticed a picture on the nightstand next to the bed. I walked over to it and saw that it was a younger Mr. Walsh with a girl next to him. She had the exact same color eyes as him but brown hair.

"That's Letty, my little sister." he said. I smiled at how happy they looked. I wished to have a brother or sister but wasn't able to get that wish. "I'll let you change. The clothes are in those drawers right there." he pointed. I nodded and heard him walk away.

"Mr. Walsh?" I said. he stopped and looked at me. "Thank you."

He smiled at me sweetly. "You're welcome Harper."
