the colors of the rainbow

red was the color of the roses you bought me
Orange was the color shirt you wore when I told you I loved you
yellow was the color of walls in my hospital room when you said it would get better
green was the color of the grass when we snuck out to the park at midnight
blue was the color of your eyes that made me feel at home
purple was the color of the kisses you left on my neck

red is the color of my eyes from the tears you caused
Orange is the color I've grown to loathe
yellow is the color of the hospital room I was admitted into
green is the color of my hospital gown
blue is the color of my bruised neck from the tight rope
purple is the color of the hospital bracelet I am forced to wear

you taught me to love rainbows, and yet I've grown to hate them
