Drowning

24 2 1

Lying awake at 4 in the morning,
Wondering when I became the shadow
That cast darkness on my family's joy.
Even though
Deep down I know,
It isn't me that's the problem.

But that's the funny thing
About love and hate
Without the endless rain that drowns me
The happiest sunbeam can't achieve it's rainbow

There's a thin line
And that is why
A father is so hard to despise
Because how can a child hate
The man that is supposed to dry the tears
That fall from their eyes
Even though he is the one that put them there

But I guess that's why there's a silver lining.
That is where the light meets the darkness.
But I'm in the bottom of a lake,
Only able to watch
As it hits the surface.

It's a shame no one taught me to swim.
