That White Dress

At eleven I had not
A problem in the world.
I went to school, in my white dress
Happy as a fool

Until the day the bad man came
And botched my dress ink black.
The others saw the way I changed,
As I faded into the back.

I added colors to disguise
The botches tainting me
Though they are hidden out of sight
They stand out the most
Black as night.
