I'm still in shock when we arrive on the other side of the lake. How can something of gorgeous be used as a school? It just seems like a waste, especially since I'm guessing a lot of destruction happens here.

"Alright. All first-years follow me!" Hagrid called out to us.

Hagrid leads us up multiple steps and over many different bridges. I was still completely awestruck. How could be this beautiful? I mean, there are probably things that are just as fantastic but since I grew up in an orphanage I've never seen anything like this.

"Leah! Come on! Let's go!" Hermione called out to me as I had just stopped walking and was looking over the edge of one of the bridges.

I hurried over to Hermione and we started talking about the Hogwart houses.

"What house do you want to get sorted into Leah? I honestly don't care as long as I'm not in Slytherin," Hermione said.

"I'm kinda thinking the same thing. So I want to be in any house but Slytherin and honestly, I don't think I'll be sorted into Gryffindor. I'm not brave enough for that house," I replied after a couple of seconds.

"Both my parents were in Gryffindor," Neville said. "So I'm hoping to be sorted into Gryffindor."

"Ooo, what if we all get sorted into the same house!! That would be so cool!" Hermione said turning around and walking backward. "But if we don't, we have to promise that we will still be friends no matter what!"

"Hermione... You're going to run into someone..." Neville said.

"I will only turn around and walk normally if you promise that we'll always be friends."

"Okay! Okay! We promise! Now turn around before you get hurt!" I say laughing.

Hermione turns around and the three of us burst out laughing. Some of the students around us give us odd looks but that just makes us laugh even harder. By the time we make it to our destination, Hermione, Neville, and I are gasping for air. But we immediately quiet down when we hear someone clear their throat.

"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," Hagrid said before heading off in a completely different direction.

"Welcome to Hogwarts-," said Professor McGonagall but was interrupted by Neville.

"Trevor!" Neville said running forward towards the toad that was standing at Professor McGonagall's feet. "Umm... Sorry." Neville rushes back next to me and Hermione while Professor McGonagall clears her throat.

"The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you must be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room.

"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.

"The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting."
