Evan ran back up the beach toward his house, his lungs aching and his breathing fast. For the past two days, his usual three-mile morning run had been extra tough as he wrestled thoughts of Isabelle Lockhart. His mind burned with the sharp memory of her warm, sweet mouth, the curved of her slender body, her full breasts and tight nipples...

Ah fuck, he wanted her bad. He'd wanted her since he'd first met her at the Rainbow Palace and felt the clasp of her fingers around his. And now that he knew how she tasted...he craved more of her, as much as he could get. He hadn't been thinking of anything but her at the auction -the flash of her smile, her insistence that she didn't like dessert, and the collision of their gazes across the crowded room.

It had been a long time since he'd felt that hot, welcome rush of desire. Everything about his encounter with Isabelle had diluted his unease over his upcoming doctor's appointment. Though his heart defect often dictated what he could do, he'd always had total autonomy in his relationship with women. He knew what he wanted and how to get it.

And right now, he wanted Isabelle Lockhart. He could ignore the fact that she was Jupiter's sister, almost his sister-in-law, and that Josh might not like him hooking up with her. Evan dandt been with a woman in well over six months, and now that he was focused in running the Candy King in Josh's absence and finally securing the acquisition of Alpine Chocolates, he wasn't looking for anything serious.

Which also meant he should stay away from Isabelle. If he started something with her, and it ended badly, that could screw up his relationship with Josh and Jupiter the Kings had been through a lot. Josh had worked hard to save the Candy King after their mother's death and again after a paternity suit had almost wrecked them. Evan would never do a damn thing to threaten their family relationships.

But Isabelle was only in town for a few more months. And she was such a beauty with her long blond hair and blue-green eyes, not to mention her fiery, willing response to him...he ached to see her trembling naked beneath him, tk beat her breathy little cries in his ear. Hell, he'd wanted to strip off her pants the other night and fuck her right up against the door, her mouth locked to his and her body shuddering around him.

Women had always been a constant in his life, but he couldn't remember ever having this shark and intense a pull toward one as he did with Isabelle. She had an intriguing mixture of innocence and experience. And she was adorable as hell -when she smiled at him, when whipped cream streaked her face, when her eyes widened with shock. He had to see her again.

That alone was a warning signal. One Evan wanted to ignore. In affairs and relationship, he controlled his heart. Not the other way around. He'd learned thta as a teenager when rumors of his defective heart had spread and girls started calling him Heartbreaker - a nickname that had stuck and made him realize he had a degree of power over the often baffling Famke species. He'd like finally getting attention for something more than his health.

By college, Evan had discovered he could have sex with any woman he wanted - whether she was attracted to him or his air of tragedy made no difference. And though heart issues could impair one's sexuality, for him it always been the opposite. Sex was the one thing he could control. He'd learned quickly what women likes, how they responded, what would bring them pleasure.

They flocked to him for numerous reasons - because of his family's wealth, or because they liked him. Rarely had a woman been turned off because of his heart, though he didn't let them in too far. Despite his sexual confidence, he disliked the idea of any woman-especially one he cared for-having to endure the uncertainty of being with a heartbreaker. Which was why his affairs and relationships didn't last long.

They were good, though. Hot. He liked taking a woman to the edge, seeing how far she'd go. To prove that he was no less a man just because he'd been born with a broken heart.
