Another chance

As expected, parents immediately sent letters of complaints about me in the teaching role, saying I was a danger to their kids. When I was on Wolfsbane i knew I was, however that night when I missed the dose proved I was still a hazard.I knew I was going to be out of a job again. Life had looked so promising yet once more it threw another curveball at me.

Dumbledore had called me into his office, I presumed this was him waving me off.

" Please take a seat Remus" he gestured towards the chair. I sat myself down gulping, preparing myself for what was to follow.

"I'm sure you are aware of parents wanting you to resign for there childs safety," Dumbledore said. Here we go. It's no surprise Remus, you know this was coming, I told myself. " Therefore you shall have to resign from your post as Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher." Although I knew it was coming, the words still hurt to hear.

" Yes absolutely I completely understa-" I began to ramble rather quickly, before Dumbledore raised his hand to cut me off.

" However, I still want you around, therefore I'm offering you a position as our safety officer."

Safety officer!? Wasn't I just getting sacked for being a safety issue? " I dont understand how can I protect people when I'm part of the safety hazards?" I questioned Dumbledore.

"From where I see it Remus, you haven't harmed anyone. I've had multiple, and heard multiple, students saying how your the best Professor they've had. You have cared and helped many students this past year and I wouldn't want Hogwarts to lose that. You will also be working alongside Miss Black in helping students tutor, I hope this isn't an issue?" Dumbledore inquired.

An issue!? This man was once again helping me from being stuck on my own , with no source of income. I felt myself welling up from the generosity, but I fought back the tears . "Absolutely not an issue at all sir, once again I cant thank you enough for all you have done for me, I'm forever grateful" I pleaded.

"Not a problem at all Remus, you deserve such kindness and more" the headteacher said smiling up at me. " Also Snape will continue producing your Wolfsbane, so no need to worry about yourself" he added.

After being dismissed by Dumbledore I stumbled back to my room, hardly able to contain my emotions. I'd get to stay in this wonderful school, with wonderful people. It really was the best place to be.

Once I got back into my room I fell asleep for a short nap, the emotions of the day draining me. I was awoken to the sound of the delicate melody of the piano and, once more the harmonising voice. Rubbing my eyes and covering myself up with my dressing gown I walked next door. Quietly opening it so I wouldn't disturb,I stood in the doorway in awe.

"Isn't it lovely, all alone?
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Tear me to pieces, skin to bone
Hello, welcome home"

Rosie looked so graceful and at peace when she was playing. Like all her worries were deleted by every key she pressed. Swaying slightly,while singing in her soft delicate voice,getting the pitch perfect.

"Am I going to be disrupted by your singing everyday?" I said,hoping she'd notice the tone of sarcasm in my voice.

"Hmm,maybe one day I'll sing you to sleep" she said flashing me a wink.

For some reason I felt the temperature in my cheeks increase, as I started to blush.Coughing my throat clear I said grinning," I'd rather like that, however my snores might join in."

Rosie burst into laughter. Her laugh was so adorable, it made my smile nearly fall off my face. " Oh before I forget, guess whose now your tutor buddy?"

"Oh merlin please say it's not you" Rosie replied putting on an exaggerated frown.

I laughed " I heard it was a rather attractive man, good looking for his age, brown hair and light green eyes, every girls dream apparently" smiling and shrugging my shoulders.

"He does sound rather dreamy" Rosie said grinning.

I felt so comfortable with her. The conversation always flowed without the fear of an awkward silence. She had the purest soul and a light hearted personality.

"Here lie on my bed" she said pointing.

I raised my eyebrows in confusion ,again blushing.

"Not in that way, don't get to full of yourself" Rosie grinned nudging me slightly.

I lay down flat on my back. " Right don't move, just close your eyes and listen." I was ordered. Rather attractive if I said so myself.

Once more Rosie started singing in her beautiful tune, following the tone of the keys she played. It was mesmerising. I felt calm, relaxed, at peace. She had this effect on me, that all my worries and fears disappeared and one by one, they were being replaced by light balls of joy.

With the melody getting ever quieter in the background, I fell asleep.
