Upon arrival, we were straight into the action. I quickly glanced around noticing there was 9 death eaters, all in battles with Order members. I saw the youngsters who were being protected by Tonks and Moody, while Sirius and Harry were fighting Lucius in the middle. I ran over to them, as Sirius sent Lucius flying backwards, knocking him clean out.
"Nice one Sirius!" I shouted. I looked behind him and saw his malicious cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange, raising her wand at Sirius. With no hesitation, I shouted "Stupify!" And with that Bellatrix apparated away, I let out a massive sigh of relief.
"Merlin, you saved my neck once again Lupin!I must start paying you back for these by now" Sirius patted me on the back, with gratitude in his eyes.
"I'm glad everyone's okay, you must fill me on this when we get back, both of you" I raised my eyebrows at them. Both mischievous swines, I'm sure Sirius felt as though he had James back, I'd be lying if sometimes I didn't feel the same.
"Re- Remus" someone was spluttering their words behind me and before I could turn around,I saw the horror on Sirius's face.
When I turned around I was mortified. Rosie was standing there, clutching her stomach as blood was pouring out of it. She had a few cuts on her forehead and looked rather pale and green.
"Rosie!" I ran to her and placed my hand on her stomach. " Shit shit shit!" Panicking,I pulled off my blazer and unbuttoned my top, yanking it off and tightly applying pressure to her wound.
Sirius and Harry came over and helped me carry her to St Mungos, which luckily wasn't too far from the Ministry.
"Ev-Even in dea-death Remus is still a gent-gentleman" Rosie coughed , she was struggling to breathe.
I glanced at her giving my best smile. Here she was, on the verge off death, and still manages to make me smile. I need her. I cant lose her. I wont lose her.
When we stumbled into the hospital, the doctors were quick to put her on a bed and take her away. Sirius ordered Harry to go back to Grimmaud with the others, much to his protest, but he obliged in the end.
Pacing back and forth, the worst thoughts going through my head. We just broke down the friend barrier between us, I'd never felt happier, yet it is all so close to being taken away from me. Sirius was also in a state, he'd just got his sister back, who he'd believed to be dead. Now she really could be.
"She'll be okay right?" I managed to murmur.
Sirius gazed at me before speaking.
"She's a Black, Remus, it's a lot harder than that to get rid of us."
After what seemed like eternity, the doctors came out and told us she was stable but still not conscious. They declared it was up to her when to wake.
Me and Sirius trudged into the room where Rosie lay. Despite her cuts and pale skin, she looked peaceful. My breath hitched at the recall of Rosie, blood pouring from her. I felt as though it was my fault. Once we arrived at the fight, I got distracted by Sirius. If I'd just stuck with her, we wouldn't be here right now.
" Stop thinking like that" Sirius's tone was harsh but sympathetic.
He always could read my emotions, he was always there for me through everything. My first ever friend .
"I ... I just feel the events of tonight could of been much different" was all I managed to cluster to say.
" We make choices every second of every day Moony, some will be good some will be bad, but there's always a different path. We just act on our initiative, thanks to yours, I'm still stood here."
That was true. At least there's a good thing to come out of this.
Sirius walked over to Rosies side and sat in the chair next to the bed, hand on her hand. He drew in a sharp breath and stared off into deep thoughts. I walked over to the other side and did the exact same thing.
A few days had went by and Rosie still hadn't woken up. Doctors reassured us that they done all they can and it was all down to Rosie. Me and Sirius never left her side, taking it in turns who would get to sleep in the chair.
When Sirius dozed off, I spoke to Rosie.
"Rosie my love, please come back," I sniffled tears forming once more, " I need you, Sirius needs you, we all need you. I feel so lost without you, your soul radiates me, keeps me functioning, without you I'm falling apart. I- I... I love you Rosie."My hand was clasped over here and I studied her facial features. From her black wavy hair, to her beautiful eyes, all the way to her plump lips.
I was so absorbed by her, I didn't realise Sirius had stirred awake.
" So you truly love her Remus?"
I jumped at his voice. drawn back to reality. My cheeks started to blush and I started to feel flustered. My instinct was to deny or ignore but here Rosie was being brave and strong so I decided. No more running from my fears.
I cleared my throat " Erm yes, yes I do love her Sirius" not breaking eye contact with him.
" Well I can see how much you care Moony, but I swear to you, if you hurt her in anyway, I'd be going straight back to Azkaban for your murder."
Sirius was being Sirius (sorry I had to ;) ), so I nodded my head and closed my eyes.
I had the brotherly approval, yet Rosie still had no clue how I truly felt.
