A few days after Christmas it was Bill and Fleur's wedding. They decided to have it at the Burrow so me and Rosie helped set up the tent.
A few people would be coming but only close friends or family. My suit was black and my shirt crisp white. I was undecided on a bow or tie so I decided neither and left the top button of my shirt undone. I gelled my hair back but messed it up a bit to give it volume.
"Looking sharp Moony, you didn't have to look so nice for me" Sirius said batting his eyelashes.
"Anything for you babe" I played along.
"I do hope I'm not cockblocking" Rosie entered the room. My word. She had a bright red dress on which was tight at the chest and waist but flared out. Her hair had wavy curls and her lips matching her dress. I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was stunning and more so, she was mine.
"It happens your are in fact cockblocking sister so please leave me and Moony so we can make out" Sirius said scowling, arms crossed. How's he still not grown up? Truthfully I wish he never does.
"But look at how handsome my man looks, I could rip his clothes off right here" Rosie said biting her lip.
"Oh my god I'm going to throw up" Sirius shouted sprinting out the room with his hand over his mouth.
Rosie walked over to me " I knew that would work" she laughed. She pressed her hands against my chest flattening my suit down.
"You look gorgeous Rosie" I kissed her cheek.
"Not looking to bad yourself Remus, now shall we?" Her hand outstretched to mine but instead I wrapped my arm around her waist and guided her downstairs.
The ceremony was beautiful and Bill and Fleur made a loverly couple. Molly was sobbing the whole time and I swore Arthur had a tear in his eye. As night dawned, the party started. Drinks were being passed around but I held off as the full moon was two days away and I'll feel bad enough tomorrow. Rosie had also avoided the drink and instead looked after her two brothers who necking drinks down like there's no tomorrow.
I was deep in discussion with Arthur about the Order when a patronus flew into the tent.
"The Minister of Magic is dead, the Ministry has fallen. They're coming"
A ball formed in my throat and before I knew it Death Eaters flew into the tent. I looked around and saw Harry, Ron and Hermione.
"Hermione go! Take them with you!" I yelled while blocking a spell.I heard the pop of aparation and felt relieved that Harry was safe. Everyone else started to disappear while the Order members fought. Sirius and Regulus were both fighting together and they were a good team. Wheres Rosie!? I scanned the room with panic and saw her duelling Dolohov. Sprinting over I shouted "Stupefy!" and the he fell to the floor. I pulled Rosie to me and checked her up and down for any injuries.
"Remus your bleeding!" She shrieked.
I looked down and noticed a wound on my stomach. The realisation made the pain kick in but there was still a Death Eater left.
"I'm fine now go! I'll find you when it's over" I pleaded her with my eyes as she looked hesitant before she aparated away. Thank god she was gone. The rest of the Order had also left so it was just me, Sirius, Regulus and the Death Eater. Fennick Greyback, the wolf that turned me. This motherfucker.
I joined the brothers and sent everything I had at Greyback as did the others. Regulus stunned him and the anger of my past took over me.
"Avada Kadavra!"
I used an unforgivable curse. I'd killed someone. I looked at the brothers in horror and Sirius gave me a confused and terrified look. Regulus also looked shocked. What have I done?
"I - I need to go" and I ran out of the Burrow and I kept running. I had no idea where I was going but I didn't stop.
After running for what felt like years I arrived at a familiar scene. Hogsmeade. I turned the corner and entered the Three Broomsticks. A few gasps were let out and I completely forgot that I was bleeding. I didn't care, I deserved it.
"Merlins beard it's good to see you Remus but I belive you should go to St Mungos!" Madam Rosmerta exclaimed.
"I'm fine honestly just get me a firewhisky please" I muttered not looking up. I drowned in my sorrows but still felt no effect of the alcohol. The pain was taking over me, my body ached as the full moon was now in 24 hours. Tumbling out of the bar I walked along until I came to the Shrieking shack. Memories neither good nor bad. This'll do for tonight.
Entering the building the structure had hardly changed. Tears once formed in my eyes as I traced my fingers along the claw marks on the walls. My heart beating loudly as I saw the paw print of a stag and a dog on the floor. I collapsed onto the floor in tears, I felt numb. As mush as I hated Greyback , I'd killed someone. I did something unforgivable. I was sobbing so much I didn't hear the footsteps approach. I didn't hear the person sit down next to me. I couldn't register anything until the person touched my skin. That touch of someone I love.
Slowly glancing up Rosie looked at me with tears in her eyes. She'd leave me if she knew I'd killed someone, finally proving to her the monster I am.
"You need to go Rosie, I'm not in a good place right now" I sobbed as she stormed my cheek.
"I told you I'm never leaving you Remus. You were there for me when I was hurt and I'm going to do the same. I love you Remus, so much, heck probably to much" she let out a small laugh. Her laugh. Just hearing that made me feel again. I was still here, still here with her, that was all that mattered. I lay my head on her lap as the tears kept coming. She stroked my hair and kissed my head.
I woke up and my body was aching. My head was pounding as I sat up and winced as a stabbing pain went through my stomach. I lifted my shirt up and noticed Rosie must of healed it. She lay next to me still in her red dress, me still in my suit. My eyes were puffy of my tears so my vision was impaired.
"Remus you need to tell me what happened" Rosie delicately spoke.
I couldn't. She'd run away. She deserves better than a murderer.
"You-you... you will leave me" my voice hurt.
"Remus I promise nothing in this world can change how much I love you. Now please tell me so I can try and help, I've never seen you this way" her hand on my back.
I should tell her, give her the reason to leave me. She can go and live her life with someone worthy.
"I killed someone. Fennick Greyback."
Rosie let out a deep breath. Here we go.
"That's why your sad? Remus we are at war, people are going to die. It's either kill or be killed and I'm happy that your still here. Your here and alive, that's all that matters" solemnly said Rosie.
What? She's not scared? She's still here?
"Your not scared? You should be running away from me, looking for someone better" I stared at her in disbelief.
"Personally Remus, I dont think I'll ever be scared of you, no offence but only Sirius can pull that off. You know... with his whole "Ive done my waiting!" parade" she grinned.
Merlin I love this woman. I lay her back on the bed and hovered over her.
"You're magnificent, you know that right?" I said, kissing her lips.
"Hmm I do know that" she smirked kissing me back.
After expressing our love physically, we left the shack and made way to Grimmauld. The Order was there trying to regather after last night's facade. Entering the room Sirius caught my eye and gave me a condolencing nod. Regulus did the same.
"With the Ministry gone, Voldemort will have more power than ever now. We can't trust anyone else apart from those in this room. The last information we have is Potter and his friends have gone hunting for the remaining Horcruxes. It is our duty to prepare for the battle that is closer than we all imagined" Kingsley announced.
This was it, round two.
