𝗨𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗 | 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒓

AS SOON AS I see Aunt Diane's vehicle drive nearby٫ I rush towards her but trip on my way there. I fall face flat on the ground and stay there for a few moments٫ overhearing the distant chatter and snickering after I've fallen.

But before I could let any of them finish٫ I push myself off the ground and speedwalk towards Aunt Diane٫ who was waving at me from the distance. I approach her and see that she has a smile on her face٫ as usual.

I let out a sigh and get inside without saying a word. And once I've taken my spot in the backseat٫ she finally drives away from this hideous school.

Goodbye for now. Assholes. I hate this school godammit٫ I hate all of you!!! Why did I ever have to come here?! And why-

"Oh Sasha٫ can you say that again? I didn't hear you٫" Aunt Diane says sarcastically-referring to my silence. I cross my arms against my chest and frown at her. Then I roll my eyes afterwards.

I don't have time for this type of crap٫ Aunt Diane. If you're going to ask about how my day went I swear I'm going to jump out the window.

I take in a deep breath then exhale٫ "I had a great day. Thanks for asking." Aunt Diane glances at me٫ taking her hands off the wheel completely. "Is that so? Then what's with the tone? Come on٫ cheer up٫" she places her fingers on a control panel٫ "Would some music make you feel better?"

"Its whatever-"

Music starts playing before I could finish my sentence. Aunt Diane frantically moves her fingers along the screen to lower the volume٫ then she puts her hand back on her lap with a nervous chuckle. She glances at me and gestures me to continue speaking.

"I wasn't going to say anything٫" I say. "Oh٫ so you're done talking for now? Yes? Okay٫ good. I apologize about earlier. I'm still trying to figure out how all of this works since you know٫ I'm pretty old٫" she laughs٫ "You kids have it a lot easier nowadays." I shrug٫ "Yeah٫ I guess."

"Look around you. Do you see anything different?"

I listen to Aunt Diane٫ but I don't have the energy to actually look around and answer her dumb question٫ so I sit still with my arms crossed. She glances back at me٫ "Sasha?"

"You got a new car?"

"That's right٫ how'd you know? Oh٫ you saw me using this control panel to put music on for you٫ right? And you also noticed how comfortable the seats are now٫ didn't you?"٫ she rambles in excitement. I stare at the back of her head as she continues speaking٫ not bothering to listen.

Then I look out the window and view the scenery instead. "So٫ what do you think? Sasha?"

I look at her and catch her staring at me٫ her hands still off the wheel. She looks at me with curious eyes-as if waiting for me to say something. Anything. "Listen٫ I-"

"I know. You weren't listening to me. I was watching you the whole time instead of keeping my hands on the wheel. For goodness sakes٫ you didn't even notice I got a new car for us٫ and it was all because back in Oaksven you used to complain about my car being old school٫ or whatever you called it٫" she says.
