Chapter 42- The Ultimate Power

"MARINETTE!!" Adrien screamed while struggling to get back up. Gigantitan the turn back to Adrien and tries to stop him but fails to do so as Adriens finger nails grew out of nowhere turning them into claws. Adrien is blinded by anger and pain and uses his claws to scratch Gigantitan all over. His slashes through his entire clothing cutting through his jacket and breaking the picture in his pocket that held the picture where the akuma was hiding. Adrien then leaves one last claw mark across the chest of Gigantitan watching him fall on the floor. He then jumps to grab the dark butterfly using his claws once again destroying its wings and it falling dead on the floor. Yes he knew the butterfly was innocent and so was the civilian but anger clouded his better judgment.

As Adrien was caught attacking Gigantitan Hawkmoth took this opportunity to remove Ladybugs earnings detransforming him back to Marinette. The second Adrien destroyed the akuma Hawkmoth took his pin off detransforming and called upon the Ultimate Power. "Nooo" Adrien yelled. He knew that he wouldn't be able to stop Hawkmoth without his power and worse he was alone. He then decided to forget him and ran towards Marinette. He might not be able to stop his father but he was going to try to keep the love of his life alive.

"Marinette please princess hold on, don't leave me I love you please." Adrien cried out holding her a dying Marinette in his arms. He was sobbing like never before, he felt like his whole world was being ripped from his hands. He was losing everything in a matter of second. His miraculous, his friends, Paris, and worse the love of his life. "I-I belie-ve in y-you kit-ty, you c-can st-op him I I love you." Marinette struggled to say the words as the last three words were barely even heard.

"ULTIMATE POWER I CAN UPON THEE TO BRING MY LOVE ONE BACK TO ME. GRANT ME THE MIRACULOUS WISH EVEN IF IT'S SELFISH. USE ALL THE POWER OF THE WORLD AND BRING MY WIFE EMILY BACK TO ME WHOLE." Hawkmoth yelled finally making the wish he had fought to get for years.

A bright light surrounded Emily as the rest of the heroes were starting to come to. Everyone then saw Gabriel standing the Middle now dressed in white and light flashing out of Emily's hands as her body floated in the air. Adrien couldn't look he knew she should be happy for his moms return but the hate for his father were stronger as saw the love of his life dying in his arms telling him she loved him. Emily then opened her eyes as she was now placed standing on the ground in front of Gabriel.

"What is going on?" Emily asked. Her sweet voice filled the room but Adrien still couldn't look at her in fact he began to feel weaker every as the seconds ticked by. Gabriel released the Ultimate Power detransforming and ran to hug his wife. As he detransform all the akumas purify and the heroes are no longer in danger. At the same time Tikki flew over to Marinette in hopes that she can heal her before she dies.

 Adrien was not sure what to do he was confused, he had mixed emotions on one hand his mother the woman he missed for years was back she was there hugging the man he called father but on the other hand his princess was there bleeding to death. Her last words to him were that she believes in him. But there were other things in his mind. *Who will lose their life? How will this affect Paris? Will he be able to get the Miraculouses back? Is Marinette going to die?*

 He looked down once again at Marinette and saw tears in her eyes but somehow color was returning to her skin, the blood had stopped dripping, Tikki! Tikki was healing her. *But how? How is Tikki able to heal her if she lost her Miraculous? Who cared this means he won't lose his lady.*

Adrien then stood up allowing Tikki to continue healing Marinette but rapidly fell back to the ground weak. At that moment he knew exactly what was happening. "Mother" he called out hoping to hug her one last time. "Kid, kid no please kid get up don't leave me" Plagg yelled flying towards Adrien and laid on his chest. Emily turned to look at her son and soon realized what was happening. She proceeded to push Gabriel off of her and ran towards her fallen son.

"No, no, no, no, no please tell me you didn't. Please tell me it wasn't you who used the wish Gabriel." She said as she looked at Gabriel with tears in her eyes. "Son please fight it, please don't die on me." She cried as she spoke to Adrien who gave her a small smile and looked into her eyes as he was fighting to keep his own eyes opened. Emily was now full of resentment "You did this! You used the ultimate power, how could you?" she yelled at a dumb folded Gabriel.

"I didn't know this would happen. I just wanted you back!" Gabriel responded back trying to make Emily understand that even though he knew a life would be taken he never imagined it being their son but Emily grew more upset as she yelled "Not this way Gabriel! It was clear we both had looked into the Miraculous legends it was never hidden it is a life for a life how could you." Gabriel lowered his gaze towards the floor and with it his voice "I never thought it would be him. I never meant for him to get hurt."

 Emily was still outraged "Him or anyone Gabriel you knew I would have never allowed someone to take a life for my own did you ever think that it might have been best to move on that all I ever wanted was yours and Adriens happiness why didn't you just let me go? You better than anyone should know what I would've wanted." "I couldn't do that I love you I can't live without you." Gabriel replied almost begging. "He is our son Gabriel you took away my son" Emily is now sobbing.

"I swear I never thought he would be taken from us, I know you might not understand that I would have done anything for you to come back but I wouldn't have purposely ended my sons' life." Gabriel said softly. Emily was weeping hard not even bothering to continue the argument but someone else was still distressed and full of hatred. "YOU FOOL! IS A LIFE FOR A LIFE BUT NOT JUST ANY LIFE IT IS ONE OF EQUAL OR MORE VALUE! HE TRIED TO STOP YOU. WE TRIED TO TELL YOU BUT YOU WOULDN'T LISTEN!" Plagg yelled as his cataclysm was summoned on his own. With every word he yelled he got closer and closer to Gabriel. Luckily at that exact moment Tikki just finished healing Marinette and as she saw the seen unfolding in front of her eyes she decided to react quickly. Tikki flew over to Plagg and grabbed a hold of his small arms "No Plagg remember we can't do this. Please calm down." Tikki then kisses Plagg making his cataclysm die down.

Marinette opened her eyes as she heard all the yelling only to see a blonde woman weeping and in his arms a dying Adrien. Marinette ran towards them and pulled Adrien from his mother's arms and hugged him tightly. "Nooo, no, no, no, how could you. Kitty please fight don't leave me I love you don't leave me I love you." "P-princess don't ev-er f-forget that I-I lo-ved you al-ways and for-ever" were Adriens last word as his eyes closed and his heart stopped. "No, no, no Adrien wake up please wake up" Her body was now trembling, as she yelled Viperion ran towards her and Adrien and tried summoning his second chance. "Second chance" he yelled three times but still nothing. Nothing has happening he tried and tried but it was no use.

Emily stood up and as her eyes filled with hate she ran to Gabriel and began to punch him in the chest while crying "take it back! Take it back please, let me go and save our son." Everyone in the room knew that the wish could not be taken back there were no way to change the event. Adrien would soon be gone forever. Letting it all sink in Gabriel fell on his knees. "I-I CANT"
