Anneliese's POV
I got up from under the covers immediately when I heard the clicking of Antonio's door . I knew he had left for the office and it was safe to leave my room without bumping into him .
I know that I overreacted even to the extent of ignoring him. I wanted to make amends but I didn't know how to go about it. I acted so childish.
I saw a gift bag placed gently in front of my door when I opened it .
I picked it up smiling because I knew who had put it there. I opened it to check it's content . I suck in a breath when I saw the pair of earrings, it was simple yet exquisite. I fell in love with them immediately.
"Good morning ,Anne and a happy birthday my child", I didn't realise I was so lost in the pair of earrings until Martha spoke up while coming into my view with my favourite cake in hand .
My mouth instantly watered looking at the delicious delicacy. I quickly took it from her and thanked her while giving her a hug.
She just laughed and said "Don't forget to thank Antonio too. He asked me to bake you this cake".
My heart felt heavy and I was filled with guilt. Even though I have being ignoring him he still managed to find a way to make me happy today.
I entered my room and layed on my bed when Martha left . I placed the jewelry box in my nightstand drawer and picked a book ,Daddy by Danielle Steele and began reading while I wait for Davina to arrive. We will be going to the mall to do some shopping and I also needed a dress for my date . I still can't believe that I am going on my first date today . I was saving all my firsts for that special someone but I guess that's just my wistful thinking. Life isn't a fairy tale after all .
My phone began to ring, I immediately answered the call when I saw my grandfather's name on the screen.
"Good morning, grandpa " I said into the receiver .
"Good morning ,angel. And a very happy birthday to my favourite granddaughter", he answered in an equally excited manner .
"Oh grams,you know that I am your only granddaughter " I said laughing .
"Alright ,I know that ,babygirl . Well enjoy your day and have fun . Are sure you don't want a party?" he asked me again for the nth time .
"No ,grandpa. I will be fine and I have a date tonight" I announced.
"Wow my little girl is finally growing up . I was thinking that you were going to be a nun for Christ's sake . And your grandmother sends her best wishes",he said
"Really grandpa . Then that's a first".
I said laughing.
I ended the call and went back to reading my book .
Davina arrived a few minutes later and we left for the mall.
We shopped in different stores all day . Well it was me doing all the shopping while Vina talked non stop with Nathan on the phone.
