SHOUT OUT TO Khfan123 FOR REQUESTING THIS NEXT CHAPTER. ANY OTHER REQUESTS ARE ALLOWED.
If there's one thing we all learn in our lives, death is a very real thing. It comes for us all and we have to be ready for it. It's even more difficult when you go through the five stages of grief.
Denial, anger, bargain, depression and then acceptance.
You usually get through the first three stages pretty fast but depression (in my mind) is the biggest obstacle. You just wish they were alive giving you the comfort of their presence being by you and never wanting to let them go. Unfortunately, it can never stay there forever. Although that's what people want, it's impossible to have. For this particular instance, what felt like the only family member you had left had sadly died.
It was the most devastating thing to have happen to you by far because of the fact she was the only person in your life left who cared about you. And now she's gone. Gone forever.
Gone.
Forever.
There was no one you had as a crutch to help you get through this very difficult time. The only thing you could do was go visit your friends grave. And that's what you did. With a bouquet of flowers in your hands, you approached the cemetery gates and walked inside. The eerie feeling of the cemetery was only making you more sad. With your friends tombstone in view, you kept approaching it with your tears spilling from your eyes but you kept your sobs in. You sat down in front of the grave and placed the bouquet in front.
Your tears were becoming more difficult to hold back and it all caved in. Your sobbing was a bit loud but you didn't care. You were grieving. "Madame, are you alright" said a voice that placed a hand on your shoulder. You stopped crying and quickly turned around and saw a man in a mostly blue hodded robe with weapons looking at you with worry. He was handsome, that much is true, but why is he asking you if your alright? This is a cemetery. Who goes to a cemetery in a good mood?
He was waiting for an answer which you gave with very wet and red eyes. "No. No, I'm not fine". Well, was it anymore obvious? The man got on his knee and said, "I'm sorry for your loss". You heard his comment but still kept sobbing. He couldn't just leave you there. The sun was going down and it looked like it was going to start raining. Was he about to leave a distressed woman alone in a cemetery with rain pouring on her? Absolutely not!
But wait... Who is he???
Before you could ask for his name, he gently took your hand and pulled you up from the ground. "Mademoiselle (Miss), with all due respect, I cannot leave you alone here when it's about to rain. It would be rude to do so". You said nothing and still had many tears fall from your eyes. The man then gently wiped the tears away and embraced you tightly. "They're in a better place. I promise you". The only sense of comfort was coming from this man and you desperately needed it.
You embraced him back and started to cry softly. "Come Mademoiselle, let's go". Though you were still a bit hesitant, you complied with his request and he led you out of the cemetery. "What's your name"?
"Apologies miss. My name is Arno. Arno Victor Dorian. And you are.."?
"(Y/n)".
"A beautiful name. But if I may ask, how old are you? You seem rather young".
"I'm seventeen". Arno understood and by any means, he was now more than positive that there was no way he would leave you out here by yourself. You may be seventeen, but still young. The streets can be dangerous for a young woman. "If I may say" Arno said as he opened a carriage for you, "the streets are never safe for a young lady. I'll take you home Mademoiselle. Where do you live"?
You took a small step back and said, "nowhere now". Arno nodded and helped you up into it. "I can provide you a roof for as long you need. We'll be there in a little bit". Arno closed the carriage door and rode the carriage off. The cemetery was getting further away from your eyesight. When it was completely out of sight, you felt more tears build up and only looked ahead to see the buildings pass by and many people enjoying their day. Your tears were starting to subside and you took big deep breaths.
Your friend was gone and it was soul crushing but the friendly face of a stranger offering assistance was uplifting. Is this God's way of giving assistance? Perhaps it is. Arno kept his promise. He offered his help and even pitched in some money to help you get back on your feet. All of this overwhelming kindness made you realize that there was still some kindness left in this world. Sometimes it hard to find but everyone should know one thing...
No good deed goes unnoticed...
