Henry's New School Book 1

Hour 1

It was a new year and a new school. Henry's family just moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan from Chicago, Illinois, they decided that Chicago was too much for them. Sadly, he would lose all his friends, besides the ones he talked to online, but, he would have to make all new friends, which was always tough for him.

Tomorrow was the day, the first day of school. Before he went to bed he was thinking about how to make new friends. He had gone to school in Chicago all his life, but he knew it would be tough for him.

"How am I gonna make new friends? Maybe I can just be my normal self." He thought to himself, "I'm not sure... oh well, I'll figure it out in the morning. It can't be that hard, can it?" He then fell asleep not sure how tomorrow would go until he woke up.

*8 hours pass*

Henry's mom, Jessie, walks into his room and says, "Henry, it's time to wake up and get ready for school."

Henry replies, "Ok" and slowly gets up. Luckily, he had gotten most everything together for school, all he had to do was get dressed for the day.

Henry walks out of his room and tells his mom, "Ok I'm ready to go" then quietly says to himself, "I guess." They walk out to the car, his mom drives him to the school building, however, it was a really quiet ride.

His mom says, "Henry if you have any problems today at school call me when you can."

Henry replies, "I will."

His mom pulls up to the building and drops him off. He walks into the school and sees a table. He assumes this is where he has to pick up his schedule for the year.

Henry asks the lady at the table, "Is this where I pick up my schedule"

The person introduced themselves as Mrs. Johnson and says, "Yes, what is your name and grade"

"Henry Baskins, junior"

"You're one of the new kids aren't you"

"Yes, I am"

"Ok, here is your schedule, and I would like to introduce; Sam Cooper, she is a member of the student council and she will give you a tour of the building before school starts so you don't get lost"

Henry turned to her then said, "Nice to meet you."

The two locked eyes for what felt like a long time until Mrs. Johnson notices this and breaks them out of it. Mrs. Johnson says, "I will see you two later."

Sam says, "First things first before school starts, you need breakfast, assuming you haven't eaten yet today, and what better place to do that than the Cafeteria?"

Henry replies, "Good idea."

The two of them walk side-by-side towards the Cafeteria. Sam then asks, "You do have money to get food, right?"

Henry says, "Yes"

"That's good, because, unless you have free or reduced lunch, you are going to need money for breakfast and lunch."

The two walk into the Cafeteria. Sam grabs a small thing of cereal while Henry grabs a breakfast burrito. They both go to the Cashier and pay for their food. After they finish eating, Sam shows Henry through each hall, showing where his classes are. When she was about to show Henry where his last class of the day was she noticed something.

She asked, "You have Mr. Ableton's seventh-hour Chemistry class?"

He replied, "Yes, it would seem so."

"That is my seventh-hour as well!"

They both smiled slightly but tried not to make it obvious to the other. Then she told him, "If I can help with anything my school email is scooper43@kzooschools.org. One last thing, during your first hour you will be given a computer. This is the school's and it will be returned at the end of the year, however, you are allowed to take it home to do homework. Inside of the lid is your email and password. Do change your password though, because if you don't, people will know it since it is the default password for a school account."

Henry says, "Thanks for the help, see you later"

"No problem, and don't be afraid to email me because you need someone to talk to as well. Well, school is about to start we should get to our first hour. See ya."

Henry looks at his schedule and sees that his first-class is Mr. Shockley's Geometry class. He walks into the math hallway of the school and then to the classroom. As he walks in Mr. Scockley looks up and says, "You must be Henry?"

Henry responds, "Yes"

"Alright, feel free to sit anywhere, wherever you pick will be your seat until we change them"

"Thanks"

He then sees an old friend from Chicago come into the room. Henry asks, "Johnny, is that you?"

Johnny responds, "Henry?"

"So this is where you moved to."

"Yeah, I didn't know you moved away from Chicago I thought you liked it there."

"I did, however, being in a big city for so long can be tiring."

"You do realize Kalamazoo is big too."

"Yeah but not as big as Chicago."

"Anyway if you need to email me, my email is jemerald26@kzooschools.org."

"Ok."

Class starts and Mr. Shockley introduces himself to the class. He then goes over what the students would learn and what he expects from them. When he is done he announces that the class is going to play a fun game called "Two Truths and a Lie" so that the students can learn about each other.

After a while, it was Henry's turn. He said, "I lived in Chicago most of my life, I like to play video games, and I take long walks sometimes"

Johnny raises his hand to pick out the lie, "We'll I've known you most your life so I know you lived in Chicago, I'd always come over to play games with you. So by process of elimination, the lie is you take long walks sometimes."

Henry jokingly responds, "yeah, kinda thought you would have known that."

Mr. Shockley then stands up and says, "Ok students, it's time to get your laptop for the year. I will call your name when I do come up here and I will give you your laptop. Now, remember, your email log in is your laptop login. Your email is on a sticky note inside the lid along with your current password."

One by one he goes through the list. After a few names, Mr. Shockley calls for Henry. When he walks up Mr. Shockley tells him, "Now your account has the default password, it might be a good idea to change it. Also, make sure to put that sticky note where no one can get to it besides you."

Henry's says, "Ok, thank you"

After a few minutes, the bell rings, and the class is dismissed.

After the bell stops ringing somebody comes onto the intercom and says, "Students please pay attention for your lunch assignment." After that is done Henry figures out he has first lunch, which is after the third hour. Then he starts walking towards his second hour.
