Frankie's POV

"Poor girl, she was only 17." I heard someone. I opened my eyes only to be met with the bright fluorescent lights. I groaned and shut my eyes again.

"He's awake!" A woman yelled. I heard some shuffling around and felt my head being lifted. "Call Doctor Schmidt."

A couple minutes later, I heard a feminine voice. "Can you open your eyes, hon?" She asked.

I was able to pry my eyes open.

A lady stood in front of me. She wore dark blue scrubs with matching clogs. Her hair had a few grey streaks and was pulled up into a tight, sleek bun. Wrinkles were faintly noticed on her forehead and around her eyes and lips. "Where's Shaley? A-and Justin." I stuttered. She gave me a sympathetic look and felt my forehead.

She hesitated, "Your friends are okay, you should just get some rest. Your parents will be here in about an hour."

She smiled but it didn't reach her eyes. A sea of emotions swam in there.

Regret.

Remorse.

Pity.

Justin's POV

I just laid there in the dark, thinking about Shaley. She has to be okay. She has to be.

An idea popped in my head. I threw the sheets off of me and swung my feet over the edge of the hospital bed. I grimaced as my feet hit the cold, tiled floor. I hobbled over the the door, my hands shook as I reached for the doorknob.

I pulled the door open and limped to the elevator. I pressed the 'down' button and made my way inside. Once I arrived in the lobby, I looked around the corner, making sure the coast was clear. Once I was sure no one was there, I walked over to the front desk.

I looked through the papers, looking for only one name. One name that made my heart jump out of my chest.

Shayley Michaels-room 65B.

I walked back to the elevator and began my journey looking for Shayley's room.

After 5 minutes, I stood in front of room 65B. I ignored the pain as I limp-ran to the room.

I barged into the room. Expecting Shayley to be there. Sleeping. Breathing. Alive.

The bed was empty.

My legs buckled beneath me and I collapsed to the ground. Hot tears ran down my face. I didn't need anyone to explain to me what happened. I already knew.

Shayley's POV

I looked down at Justin. Why was he crying?

I was right next to him. I reached down, trying to touch his shoulder but my hand went right through it. I brought my hand back, shocked.

What the hell?

"Justin!" I screamed, but my voice came out faint in echoes.

He shoulders shook and sobs racked his body.

I gasped and fell to the floor "JUSTIN!" I screamed. I waved my hands in front of his face. "WHY CANT YOU HEAR ME JUSTIN? I'M RIGHT HERE!"

I backed up into the corner and pulled my knees up to my chest. What is happening?

~

Justin's POV

I sat there for hours, staring at her empty hospital bed.

"She can't be gone, she's not gone." I said to myself. I picked up a glass and threw it across the room, and watched it shatter into a million pieces. Ha just like my heart, I snapped.

"You shouldn't be in here son." I heard a voice behind me.

I turned around to see a man in a white coat staring down at me. "Why are you here?" He asked. "She's gone." I replied.

"Who's gone?" He asked.

"My girlfriend, okay? She died right here and if you wouldn't mind, I want to be alone so piss off. " I snapped.

"Get back to your room or I will call security. Besides, you don't look like your in good shape to be roaming the hospital." He replied.

I scoffed as I brushed passed him and walked down the hallway towards the elevator.

"Why was I so mean to him?" I asked myself. Well whatever, who cares I'll do whatever I want.
Limping, I got in the elevator and pressed 4. Why the fuck am I so high up? Damn what if I was scared of heights? These doctors need to learn a thing or two about quality.

*DING!* I watched the doors slide open as I walked down the hall to my room. Limping my way there, I glanced over and saw Frankie's room. "Hopefully he's not dead too!" I silently thought to myself. Not even thinking about knocking, I barged in and saw Frankie lying there, watching tv. "AYEEE!" I screamed, running over to grab Frankie and squeeze him. "Ouch man, watch it will ya?" Oh please Frankie, piss off!" I laughed at myself. "So uh shayley.." He started. "Um yeah I know dude, don't remind me." I stopped him. My eyes became noticeably blurry. "Uh- wanna watch tv with me or..?" He tried to brighten the mood. "I guess so. What are we going to watch? I asked. Frankie replied, "I've been wanting to see The Fault in Our Stars in forever." He sounded excited "That's way too sad." I said. "Let's watch the maze runner." I suggested. Frankie nodded in delight. I rushed over to the chair next to him and popped a squat.
