In My Arms

I was fast asleep in the dorm when a loud thud from the other room made me and the other girls sit up. "what the hell?" said Hermione while putting on her slippers. I did the same and followed her down the stairs. none of the other girls followed for some reason. pussies. "Lumos" I said aloud. The tip of my wand lit up and we looked around the dark common room. "see anything?" asked Hermione. "not here but I'm pretty sure the noise came from the boy's room." we slowly crept up the right stairs to the boy's room. we knocked twice on the door. no answer. "I'm gonna open it," I said. Hermione nodded and I creaked open the big wooden door.

I have no idea why I was under the impression that the boy's room would stink and be dirty. that was not the case. to be completely honest I think their room was cleaner than ours. The room smelled of cologne and fresh laundry. it was a pleasant surprise. I could tell Hermione was equally shocked by the look on her face.

"Why the bloody hell are you two here. If any of the teachers saw you they'd have a fit" said Ron while blocking the entrance. "we came to see what the noise was and if you guys were okay" said Hermione with a hint of attitude. while they began to argue I slipped past Ron to see the rest of the boys huddled around a spot by the window. I cut into the crowd to see the fuss.

Harry was leaning against the wall with his head in his hands. all the boys moved back when they saw me to allow me to get to Harry. "give them some privacy" said Neville Longbottom. I smiled at him in gratitude. I've not yet spoken to him but I can tell he is a sweetheart. as the boys filed out of the area, I kneeled in front of Harry.

"Hey, it's me. are you okay? we heard a noise and came to see if something had hap-"

He looked up at me with the saddest eyes I've ever seen. I was instantly crushed. His tearstained face gave me a look of pain I've never seen the likes of before in my entire life. His lip quivered but no matter how upset he looked now, I could tell it was nothing compared to how he felt on the inside. He was masking his emotions even now. I could tell he would not want to talk.

I've seen this look before. My mom occasionally gets like this. She has seasons where she misses my father. I knew what helped her so I figured Harry would want the same treatment.

I didn't ask questions. I didn't try to figure out what was wrong. I simply wrapped my arms around him. I communicated with my embrace that he was safe.

He froze for a second before turning into me and wrapping his arms around me in return. I could feel his body shudder as he cried. but I closed my eyes and let him. I could feel the stares of the entire dorm on us, but I didn't care. I felt like I was in another world where it was just Harry and I. nothing else.

After about 2 minutes of just sitting and holding each other, Harrys' shudders and tears began to slow. I could feel his breathing steady and his heartbeat slow. his grip on me became more relaxed and I could feel his head get heavier.

He fell asleep on my shoulder.

Hermione came over and helped me put him back into his bed. I put a thick blanket over him and moved back into the group of boys.

"How the fuck did you do that?" asked Ron with wide eyes

"language," said Hermione hitting him on the arm. "Ow," he wined. there was no denying the chemistry. I felt like I was watching an old married couple.

"How did I do what? put him to sleep?"

"Well yeah that too, but how did you get him to calm down in the first place?" said Ron. "he gets like this sometimes. it's his nightmares. they get so bad he moves and shakes. The noise you guys hear was him falling off the bed. must have been an extra bad one tonight." He looked past me to Harry's bed and I followed his gaze. Harry seemed calm now. he looked incredible sleeping. from where I was standing I had a perfect view of his chiseled jawline.

"No one can get him calm after one of his nightmares," said Neville

"My mom has these type of episodes," I explained, "I just did what I do for her to get her calm. I've never put her to sleep through. That's definitely new."

"We owe you Jinora. Harry has to get his rest so we can win our game tomorrow," said Oliver Wood. I met him the other day. he seems like a nice guy. He's the keeper on the quidditch team I remembered.

"Of course. let me know if this happens again and ill try to help again" I said.

"Will do."

Hermione and I walked back to the room in silence. I could tell she was extremely tired. She had detention today with Snape and whatever he made her do she seemed to beat. We made it to our room and I laid down and got under my blanket. Miss Callie stretched by my feet and nuzzled up next to my leg before falling asleep. I laid on my side looking out the window. It had begun to rain lightly. My last thoughts were of Harry in my arms before I finally drifted off to a night of deep sleep.
