Today is going to be the start of a life that I was supposed to be living few years ago. Today is the day I decide to not let my condition restrict me. Today is also the beginning of the third semester of senior year.
After I had my bath and put on my clothes, I walk into the kitchen. Dad is reading the newspaper and mom is making breakfast.
"Morning," I greet out.
"Gmorning Brea," my mom and greets and my dad ruffles my hair.
I walk up to the fridge and pull out a cup from the cupboard and a carton of apple juice. Apple juice has always been my favorite type of juice, even when I was growing up. Mom used to tell me that when I was younger and my cousins came around, I would never let them have my apple juice.
"Here you go, eat up and take your drugs. I'm sure Heath will be here soon," she says and pushes a plate filled with pancakes and bacon.
I am eating my pancake when a voice rings out. Heath.
"Good morning family."
Heath is in a Henley shirt, black jeans and a white converse.
"Hey Heath," I say and he hugs me and sits on the chair beside me.
I finish my breakfast and take my pills and Heath and I about to leave. My mom is hugging me.
"Be safe Brea. If you need to come home, call me," she says.
"Or I can bring her back home." Heath chimes in.
"Or Heath can bring you home," she repeats.
"I'll be fine mom, I promise," I say and hug mom and dad.
"We'll get going now," Heath says and we walk off the porch into his car. We wave them goodbye, Heath starts the car and drives off.
"So? What's your plan?" I ask.
"My plan is the same. Play ball and get good grades,"
Heath is a football player. A really good linebacker at that.
"Well, my plans have changed." I say.
"How so?"
"I want to actually enjoy the end of senior year. Live differently, I want to stop living my life on eggshells, I want to look back on my life one day and say, I experienced life. I'm going all in this year, everything's going to change. Even though its a little bit late."
"Did you tell mom and dad?"
"No," I sigh.
He doesn't say anything after; we stop at Javas to get smoothies. It is easy living a healthy life with Heath, because he is so devoted to football and wouldn't compromise it for anything. He exercises, eats right and just remains healthy all round.
Pebble Brook soon comes into view after ten minutes since we left Javas. Soon, Heath is pulling up in his usual parking spot. We come out of his Chevrolet Camaro and make our way into the halls of the school. Heaths arm is slung around my shoulder as he flashes smiles to people he's familiar with.
"I'll see you at lunch?" he asks when we get to my locker.
"I don't know Heath; I don't fit into your group."
"That's not true Brea. You're my group if you don't remember. I've known you longer than I've known the whole group."
"I'll think about it,"
"If you don't show up, I'm going to carry you on my shoulder to the table, got it? Besides, you said you wanted to do things differently. You can start here." He smiles knowing he has already won.
