The High School bell rung, signalling the end of the summer holidays and the start of a fresh new term. All the students were pushing and shoving each other in an attempt to make it to their classes on time, some of the younger grades being trampled on in the process.

Luckily for Zim, his first class happened to be English with the Dib-human, which meant that he could annoy the poor teen and get him into as much trouble as he wanted to. Zim quickly learned that any classes without the raven haired boy were extremely boring, not that he'd ever admit that to anyone, of course.

So, to prevent himself from dying of boredom, Zim had gone out of his way to hack into the schools systems to change their timetables so that they had almost all subjects together. Dib had noticed the sudden change on his timetable, but decided not to comment as he would never admit that having Zim in his class made school a little bit more interesting and bearable.

The two of them weren't exactly friends, but they didn't really act the part of sworn enemies that are out for each other's blood either. They had somehow managed to form some kind of even grounding and a strange relationship full of banter had quickly grown over the past few years of Zim still being on Earth. But one things for sure, they still very much enjoy tormenting and teasing one another.

"Looks like we have the same class again, Dib-stink." Zim spat one of the many nicknames he'd given the boy, while giving a pointed smirk. As if he had just said a cunning insult instead of stating the obvious. Dib just rolled his eyes at the small alien.

"Yep, just like we have for the last few years. Gee Zim, you sure haven't changed a bit." Quite literally, Zim only grew to be about 5"1 while Dib had grown to be at least 5"7. Zim's attitude sure as hell hasn't changed either, he's still as full of himself as he's always been.

However, he's not as violently hostile (unless you piss him off of course) and stupidly ignorant as he used to be in elementary school. Both boys had grown stronger too over the years, after all, one needs to be in shape if one is trying to take over a planet or stop an alien invasion. The years of Zim going through Irken training had really paid off, although he appears to have thin arms and legs, they mask his true strength.

Every now and then (or more often then not) the two would get into physical fights over rather petty and stupid things, (such as who gets the last soda in the cafeteria) Zim usually leaving more marks and bruises then Dib because of his inhuman strength, however Dibs intelligence does aid him in combat.

'At least his uniform shirt didn't look like a baggy dress on him anymore.' Dib thought mockingly, grinning in amusement to himself, despite the weird looks his classmates were giving him.

As for Dib, besides the growth spurt he's still the same big headed nerd that's obsessed with aliens (especially one in particular) and everything else supernatural. Though, after a year and a half of 'protecting' Earth from Zim, he's finally come to the obvious conclusion that Zim couldn't take over Earth no matter how hard he tried. But that doesn't mean he's going to leave the alien alone, for safety measures and his research of the supernatural, of course.

The students waited impatiently outside the classroom door for their teacher to arrive, chatting in their small groups of friends about what they did on the holidays and other pointless small talk. Shortly after, a tall lady that had strikingly similar features to Ms Bitters came trotting along and finally unlocked the door, letting all the students pile their way into the classroom to get to their favourite seat. Unlike in Elementary school, Zim and Dib preferred to sit in the back, rather then the front.
