The two officers showed up at the University of Berlin and asked to speak with Pete. He saw his father's driver make a call and then quietly disappear.
He answered each question honestly, and they, indeed had noticed the uniformed driver standing in the hallway. He had immediately been removed from class and taken to the police station and placed in a small room. He was so confused but if this was to get him away from that man, he would cooperate!
A man in a black three piece suit entered. He looked tired as he put down a brief case. He slid in the seat and sighed. "Well, Pete, I guess you're confused and tired. I'm here to explain what's going on. Would you like some coffee? Some thing else?" He stood up and poured himself a cup.
Sitting back down, "So what do you want to do? I think no one has asked you that, Pete. It's my job to do that." He pulled out a pad of yellow note paper. "I'm from immigrations. We got notice from Thailand that you were brought into the country against your will. So tell me your story."
Pete blinked his eyes and fought back his tears. Bless his mother! Fighting back the lump in his throat, he slowly starting talking. He got more animated as it progressed and the man just listened, making notes. He talked about each visit to Germany and how they went, the constant verbal abuse after he came out.
Finally Pete was talked out. The man looked carefully at the tired youth. "So, what do you want to do now? You have options, you know. Germany would welcome you. You can go back home."
Pete sat up. "I'm going home, of course! My mother has always been my best supporter." He sighed, "I had a boyfriend before all of this happened. I'm not sure if that's still the case."
The man stood and smiled. "I apologize sincerely for putting you through this, young man. We needed to be sure." He gestured for Pete to follow. After a few twists and turns, they stood in the bright sunshine once again. Pete blinked, seeing his mother's lawyer.
The immigrations officer handed Pete his passport. "Have a safe flight home." He patted Pete's shoulder in farewell.
The lawyer just shook Pete's hand and helped him in the taxi. Once inside, he looked at Pete. "You're a smart man. That letter you sent was just brilliant. Brilliant." He sighed and closed his eyes. The jet lag was catching up to him. 12 hours to fly here and he'd not even been on the ground for 6. "We fly out in 3 hours."
"What letter?" Pete asked, "I only sent one to Ae..."
"Yes, we know. I was with Ae as he read it. You detailed your confinement. It was enough to involve the authorities."
Pete's mouth dropped open. It wasn't his mother, but Ae who saved him. It was a quiet flight home, the lawyer slept and Pete lost in thought.
Arriving at Bangkok Airport, Pete was surprised to see both his Mother and Ae. His mother hung back as Ae ran and hugged Pete tightly. "Don't" He whispered, "Don't ever do that to me again."
Pete closed his eyes and felt Ae's hard body. This was home. He felt brave here in Ae's arms. He bent his head and pressed a kiss to those lips that he'd dreamt of for many nights.
Fuck it, Ae thought, Pete started it! He took the kiss deeper until he heard Mother's laughter and the lawyer give a discreet cough.
"Boys, save it for later. Now is definitely NOT the time." Although his words were stern, there definitely was a twinkle in his eye.
Pete smiled at his man. "Later can't come soon enough." Ae was thinking the same thing, and shared that smile. Petch glanced at them and sighed, "Dinner first to celebrate!"
Dinner was a lively affair, Aunty Jiew had prepared a feast for the small family. Ae wouldn't, no, he couldn't stop touching his Pete. If it wasn't his hands, then he had his thigh, or his foot in constant reassurance that yes, he was here. These past months while Pete was gone, Ae felt lost, alone... adrift in waves of emotions.
He had many people to thank but only Pete's mother understood what he was going through. Pete was taken from her too. Petch smiled and finally set the boys, no, her sons, free. "Go talk, I think you both have stories to share. Ae, you will spend the night?"
Ae didn't even have a chance to answer as Pete dragged him off to his room. The door banged shut and Jiew and Petch started to laugh. "To be young again." Jiew sighed as she cleared the dishes. "It's good to have the young master home."
"I don't think we will have him for much longer, Jiew." Petch softly smiled. "Can you see them living with us?" Jiew flashed a horrified look at her. All sorts of naughty images started to dance in her aged mind and she shivered at the thought of stained sheets.
"Oh lord!" Jiew sat down abruptly. "The young master has grown up, hasn't he?"
Petch broke out first in giggles and then started to laugh as if she was still a teenager. Jiew couldn't help it. Petch was infectious. They didn't know how long they laughed for but it felt good after the stress of the past months. "Oh, I needed that!" Petch gasped. "My baby isn't a baby anymore. Pete can do as he wants and he has someone who loves him."
Jiew smiled. "I like Ae. He's a good boy."
Petch nodded. "He suits Pete. They look good together." The women looked up as they heard laughter float downstairs. "It's all I ever wanted for him. Someone who made him happy while being loved." She gave a naughty wink to Jiew. "I think you'd better prepare up the downstairs guest room."
Jiew looked at her confused. "Why? You didn't tell me we were expecting company."
"Really? Do you think I'll get any sleep tonight near that upstairs? I have work tomorrow!" Even at her age, Jiew flushed as Petch teased her. The laughter downstairs was just as bad as it was upstairs.
