Adelaide Nightshade walked into the room and was greeted by the loud thump of music, flashing lights and the faint smell of sweat, alcohol and heavy perfume. She weaved her way across the immense crowd, and found herself in front of the bar. Bottles of expensive beverages and alcohol gleamed under the bright lighting.
A preppy brunette with large hazel eyes sidled up to the counter. "What would you like, miss?"
Adelaide smiled. "Just a coke, thanks." She had no intention of getting drunk tonight, after the horrible hangover she had experienced the day before.
"You sure, miss?" The barmaid asked.
"Oh, yeah. Very," Adelaide replied.
With a bottle of coke in her hand, Adelaide once more plunged into the mass of people, swerving to and fro to avoid getting bumped from the swinging hips of dancers. She sat herself down at a small table near the corner of the room, scanning the room for a familiar red head. Taking out her phone, she texted,

Can't go anymore. mum found out that I went to Brian's party yesterday when I was supposed to be grounded. :(
Sighing, Adelaide put down her phone and stood up. She downed the last of her coke and was making her way to the exit when she was suddenly pushed aside. Glancing up, she saw the crowds parting slightly, making room for a group of people. A slim, petite girl clad in a midnight blue velvet dress looked up and stared straight at Adelaide. Her ruby red lips curved into a small smile, and she inclined her head, gesturing for Adelaide to approach her.
