Zoe's POV:
Zoe walked out of the club, with the rest of the group behind her. People stopped to admire the beautiful bunch, and the occasional wolf whistle was heard in the quiet street.
After walking down alleyways and turning 'round many corners, they came to a deserted park. Zoe turned around and faced her friends. Alfie came and stood beside her. She smiled at him briefly.
"You all know why we're here." She said quietly.
"It's because of that Adelaide girl, right?" said Marcus.
"Right." Zoe said. "And everyone saw how the air rippled and moved around her?"
"The mark of a siren," murmured Niomi.
"But did anyone notice how the air around her was moving faster, and it was a lot more visible?" Zoe asked again.
"What does that mean?" Alfie frowned from beside her.
"It means," Joe said, "That she's stronger. Stronger than one of us."
"How?" said Tanya.
"I don't know." Joe responded.****
Adelaide's POV :
Adelaide walked out of the nightclub, breathing in the cold night air. She shivered as a breeze of icy wind blew over her bare arms, causing goosebumps to rise. She walked on, her heels clicking loudly on the pavement.
Adelaide didn't know how far she walked, but she kept on walking until she saw a sight that made her feet stand still.
Under the street lamps, a familiar head of tousled hair shone.
"Beach Hair." Adelaide whispered. She quickly moved behind a thick oak tree, which was wide enough so that her slender frame couldn't be seen. She caught snippets of the groups' conversation, and she strained her ears as hard as she could.
"Well, what are we gonna do about it?"
"We'll have to watch her..."
Watch who? Adelaide thought.
"How are we going to do that?
"I don't know... Hey! Maybe Joe can talk to her!"
"What? Why me?" Joe huffed.
"Because... You like her and she likes you."
"How do you know that?"
"Isn't it obvious? They were both looking at each other with mooney eyes and she was blushing when Joe teased her, so..."
Adelaide felt a chill go up her spine as she realised they were talking about her. Unless Joe had met another girl...
As the group continued their discussion, she grew more and more wary of the group. A few unknown words were thrown into the conversation, and silence began to take over the night.
Intending to leave, Adelaide stepped back and her shoe crashed against a branch. There was a loud snap, and she immediately froze, not daring to breathe.
Oh No.
