I'm not entirely sure why I am working on this, but for whatever reason I am. I think it is because I keep seeing how much Rian fiction is in demand? Maybe that is it, I also like to write little stories to keep from getting stale with my other work. Okay I'll shut up now.

"Good morning Miss Kessler." Rian Dawson chirped as he walked into the small office that belonged to his best friend.
"Good morning Mr. Dawson." Poppy Kessler replied not even bothering to look up from her laptop that sat on the desk in front of her.
"So, I've been thinking." Rian said taking a seat next to his friend, handing her an extra large hot chocolate from her favourite cafe.
"That is what I smell burning." Poppy quipped taking the styrofoam cup and taking a drink. She smiled as the sweet drink passed her lips. Bless his little heart; he even made sure they added the hazelnut flavour.
Rian was too sweet, he was better to her than any other person Poppy knew.
"I know you said you don't want anything big for your birthday and that you have no interest in it period, but what about dinner?" Rian asked taking a drink of his own coffee and propping his feet up on the table.
Shoving his feet off of the table, Poppy shook her head, her dark brown curls escaping her pony tail she was shaking her head with such force. "No, Rian. I want a quiet birthday. Work was nice enough to let me have the day to myself, so I am making use of it."
"Come onnn." He whined. "There must be something you want for your birthday."
Aside from you?
So she had a crush on the guy, sue her!
Poppy pursed her lips together tapping her pen on the table top and scrolling through her blackberry. He wouldn't let it go until she told him. Maybe she could pass off something silly and he'd buy it and shut up. Rian had been on her about her birthday for the last month, she kept telling him that she didn't want anything and she meant it. Birthdays were depressing to Poppy. She preferred to be alone, with a cake and ice cream and a sad girlie movie. It worked better for her.
Even as a child Poppy hated her birthday. Most people took it as a chance to rake in presents, money and take it as a day to do whatever they damn well pleased. Poppy took it as a day to sit in and reflect on just how boring her life was. Nope, she wasn't changing her plans now. Her birthday was less than twenty four hours away and she already had the sappy chick flick picked out for it.
"Birthdays are the most depressing day of the year. They just remind us how old we are and that the world is passing us by." Poppy rationalized.
"You're turning twenty four!" Rian laughed. "You're not a fossil yet. Now come on, Pops I know there must be something you want."
"I want you to fuck off." Poppy smiled at him with shining eyes. "Can you do that? Don't you have an interview or a show or some crap today?"
"Nope, I am all yours." Rian beamed.
Poppy hated slow days like this; normally Rian would be so busy they wouldn't even have time to sit down. Not that Poppy enjoyed the exceptionally busy days, but on days like this she longed for them something fierce. She longed for something to take Rian out of her hair and for something to bring her an ounce of sanity. She enjoyed Rian, but there were times he was too much. Slouching in her desk chair, Poppy sipped her hot chocolate slowly. Rian shifted in his own chair, picking up on her annoyance. He lived to annoy the hell out of her.
"Why are you here, if you have no reason to be?"
"I had to come see the birthday girl." Rian stated finishing his coffee and tossing the cup into the trash can. "Score!" he shouted throwing his hands in the air.
"You're such a moron." Poppy laughed at Rian's antics.
It was times like this she found the dark haired, brown eyed boy with the big smile adorable. Thankfully for her, so did her boss and would never think of asking Rian to leave the office, no matter how annoying he got.
"So, what do ya want for your birthday?" Rian asked again.
Poppy rolled her eyes and groaned. "Go home."
"Fine, but I'm picking you up at five thirty for dinner." Rian said standing up and stretching out his arms. "You deserve it." He winked.
"You deserve a kick in the ass." Poppy shot back at him. Rian covered his heart with his hand, pretending to be hurt. "You're too much Rian Dawson ."
"Yeah, yeah!" Rian waved it off leaving her office. He was half way down the hall when Poppy heard him again. "You rock, Poppy Kessler!" he called out loudly for Poppy and everybody else in the building to hear him.
