Yvette's point of view.

The bright rays of the sun shone through my window as I heard birds chirping, I slightly opened my eyes to turn around and look at the time.

To my surprise it was 9:35, meaning I had already missed breakfast and was 35 minutes late to class, "Merlin, please save me." I thought to myself as I rushed out of my comfortable bed and into the bathroom where I used a quick spell to tie my hair while I brushed my teeth.

By now it was 9:40 and I started to pick up my speed, I quickly wore my uniform and hurriedly tied my silver and green tie and then rushed out of my dorm.

I had arrived into my potions class, huffing and puffing. "May I ask why you've arrived just before class ends, Miss Edgecumbe?" The professor up front asked me. "I apologize Professor, It's been a rough morning" I reply to him in between huffs for air.

"10 points from Slytherin and detention tonight. Class dismissed." I mentally slapped myself after hearing the words 'Class Dismissed' How could I be so late? I've ruined my perfect attendance and now I'd have to rely on someone for notes from today's class.

"Yve! Why weren't you at breakfast?" Lydia exclaimed, running towards me from her herbology class. "I woke up late, and came exactly when class was dismissed. Now I have detention and I've lost 10 points from my house" I told her while we walked through the halls together, "Cheer up, you can ask someone for notes!" She said, earning a deep sigh of sadness from me.

"That's the problem, Lyd. My own fellow Slytherins don't like me and the Ravenclaws are absolute rubbish at explaining things without big, long scientific words that no witch or wizard can understand!" I yelled loudly which caused people to stop and stare at me as if I was some crazy person who had escaped from Azkaban.

My Gryffindor friend hadn't replied to my long complaint which meant that she was at a loss for words. "Best of luck I guess. You'll get there." She finally said as she pat my shoulder twice and walked away to her next class leaving me stranded in the halls alone.

I had free period so I decided to go to the library and use books to catch up on the hour long class I had missed, I had a dozen books about basic potions that 7th years should know in my arms. Gently placing them down on an empty table, I sat down and let out a long breath of disappointment.

"Need help, Edgecumbe?" The same masculine voice that I came across last night was now back and asking if I needed help. "I'm fine, Riddle. Go do your prefect business" he scoffed at my reply and then sat down in the empty seat next to me. "Don't lie, Darling."

Darling? This was only my second time ever talking to him and I've been called Darling?, I assume he sees me as a pushover, somewhat similar to the girls in Hufflepuff. "Don't get too ahead of yourself, Riddle." I told him with a deeper tone in my voice than I did before.

"Ahead of myself? For asking if you needed help? Quite the delusional one aren't you?" Having enough of his never ending rudeness, I decided to get up and go to the common room to study instead, hoping for atleast some peace and quiet.

It was the dinner before my hour long detention and I was absolutely nervous. Not only had I not received detention before in my life, I had to spend that long boring hour cleaning the bathroom of a fellow student who was murdered in that very bathroom only a year ago. Us Slytherins knew who was behind the murder however we were forbidden to tell anyone about it, especially the teachers.

"You're zoning out again?" Lydia said to me as if this was a daily occurrence, of course for other people being distracted is normal but for me, being distracted just shows that I can easily ignore my priorities, so it wouldn't be a daily occurrence for me.

"Yeah, sorry. Just a lots going on today." I told her while I played around with the food on my plate. A sigh was heard from my friend, "You're getting distracted easily and now you're playing around with your food? Is it because of detention?" My eyes widened while I questioned myself in my head on how she knew.

I nodded to her signaling a yes. "It's better to clean the bathroom that Myrtle died in than being someone who helps with placing jars in potions." I pursed my lips and narrowed my eyes at her. How is cleaning a smelly old bathroom that has the spirit of a young girl floating around better than putting jars on shelves? I don't think Rowena Ravenclaw would even know.

The two of us sat in silence for a while until I looked up and saw a pair of eyes staring straight at me, though those brown chocolate eyes were easy to get lost in, they were the eyes of Tom, the eyes of someone who I could barely stand.

"Lydia, I'll go leave early now so I can study before detention" The brunette girl had nodded and wished me a good luck before I got up to leave. I felt horrible as I left the great hall simply because I realized that I had lied to my friend for the first time ever, even though I'm a Slytherin, sometimes feelings of guilt wash over me as well.

The direction I was going in was definitely not the common rooms nor my dorm, but to the dark, unlit library where I could sit down in peace and escape the eyes of Riddle. The curly haired boy had made me uncomfortable just by staring, is this a sign of weakness?

I quietly tiptoed around the library to find a comfortable spot to rest in for 30 minutes before my duty serving as a bathroom cleaner was set to start, I had found a spot but it looked like someone had occupied the area. Books upon books were scattered upon eachother, each of the books being about dark magic and dark wizards.

I was quite surprised since the restricted area of the library wasn't made for students to enter, but I had just assumed it was for our DADA class and that our professor was just reading up on defenses he could teach us.

I sat down near the books and leaned back waiting patiently for the 30 minutes to pass by as quick as possible, My eyes started to feel heavy as they slowly but surely started to close.

(A/N): Bad chapter, I know. I may or may not have procrastinated this chapter because of school, but please do enjoy my horrible writing. I wasn't exactly sure how to end this chapter without dragging it on and on.. and I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to carry on with the next chapter.. I guess I'll just wing it?. Anyways, that was besides the point, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'd love feedback if anyone has some :) Stay safe x.
