Mayas POV

Once I saw everyone file out of the lecture hall I started to make my way over to Dr. Reid's desk. With each step I took I felt the knot in my stomach grow tighter and tighter but before I could comprehend it I head Dr. Reid's voice.

"Hi" he looked at me with a smile on his face. I quickly made my way up to his desk and sat down in the chair next to it.

"hi - um I guess i should introduce myself, I'm Maya Jones" I noticed him glance at my hands with a questioning look before he started to reach out his hand but I quickly turned that down. "Uh- sorry I don't really shake hand, more pathogens are passed during a handshake so it-"

"Better to kiss" he said as we both started laughing

Feeling bad I started to apologize about earlier "Um- Dr. Reid" but he quickly cut me off.

"Maya call me Spencer and I know what you are going to say and there is no reason to apologize. Trust me I do it too"

Feeling better I looked at him smiling.

" So Maya how old are you exactly" he asked

"I just turned sixteen last month," I said confidently. Knowing what questions he was going to ask next I just continued "I uh am on my second Ph.D, my first in criminology. I graduated from highschool at the age of twelve and I have an IQ of 189 and can read 20,000 words per minute."

"Really" he said, that was everyone's reaction when I told them but his was different. He wasn't surprised, he seemed more like he was relating to me. I looked up at him with a questioning look. But before I could even ask he answered. "I graduated high school at twelve as well. I have 3 Phds and I have an IQ of 187 and I can read 20,000 words per minute."

Spencers POV

She reminded me so much of me, she had brown hair that fell right below her collarbone and stunning hazel eyes. I don't know why but I had the sudden urge to protect her with my life.

"Hey do you want to maybe meet at the library one of these days. I could recommend some new books." I said

She smiled before answering "Yes, I would love to. Here let me see your phone and put in my phone number"

Reaching in my bag I quickly grabbed my phone and handed it to her. She quickly took it out of my hands and started typing in her number. Handing it back to me she smiled "I'm free whenever. You're the only class I'm taking this semester"

...

We talked for a little bit before we both started heading for the door, when we reached the parking lot we said our goodbyes but before she left she quickly looked at me and said "Thank you" and hugged me.

Now I am not one for hugs but when she hugged me I felt a sense of comfort, one that I had only felt once before.
