Adam's POV
It had been a week since our first game. Since then s lot had happened. Putting the ducks clothes in the shower, then icing our locker room, us taking them to dinner, the ant attack, and then the scrimmage. Charlie and Fulton ended up quitting but I had heard that Fulton had come back. But the captain was still missing. This was our second game of the season and I was ecstatic. My first game in the right wing of the first line. I knew that this was huge for me to prove myself today. Both Layla and Riley had welcomed me with surprisingly open arms and I had to prove them right. I had to show that than my new position wasn't a mistake.  Half expecting our uniforms to be missing, the ducks had a game tomorrow instead of today, I walked into the locker room. My eyes were not met with horror as I looked around a seemingly normal locker room.

"Hey Banks how's it going," Layla said coming up behind me.

"Hey," I breathed. Wow. That's all I can come up with. 'Hey'.

"You ready for your first taste of the right wing?" she questioned.

"Uh yeah. Nervous and excited I guess you could say." As I answered her I watched as the rest of the team trickled in and started getting ready for the game. Scooter gave Layla a not so secretive wink when he walked in and saw us standing together. Wonder what that's about. Unless he knows. No. He couldn't know. I haven't told anyone. Maybe he.....

"Um Earth to Banks," Scooter called waving his hand in front of my face. I snapped back to the present and looked around the locker room to find it basically empty. Not waiting to hear what Scooter had to say, I rushed out of the the locker room and onto the ice.

The game was about to start. I was standing on the ice opposite of some giant player from the other team. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Layla looking this direction. At first I thought she was watching the ref, waiting for the puck drop, but when I turned me head I found she was looking right at me. What the hell. My breath caught. Her eyes locked on mine and all I could do was stare back. A small smile lit on her face which made my heart explode. As soon as it had come, the smile disappeared and she flicked her attention back to the ice letting me know it was about to start.

Grateful that she had warned me I returned my attention to center ice. Just in time too because suddenly the ref dropped the puck and the game started.

It was a blowout. We won 10-0. All of our plays went smoothly and the other team couldn't counter them. Scooter did a great job blocking the shots. He only got a few but the ones he got were hard and quick, hard to stop. Our first line rotation played the majority of the game. 9 of the 10 goals we scored were between Layla, Riley, and I. The one odd goal being by Jayden, the second line right wing. Coach decided to call off the conditioning he had planned for after the game because we had done so well.

We walked slowly into the locker room and started to change, all relived that we got off without conditioning. I was one of the first people to get changed and so I said goodbye to the team and started heading towards my dorm.

"Banks hold up," Scooter called as he ran up to me in the hallway smirking.

Oh no. He knows.

"Come with me," he said dragging me toward his dorm, "we need to talk."

Knowing there was no way out of this, I went along with it as he pulled me along. I had a feeling that I knew what he wanted to talk about, yet I had no clue how he knew. I hadn't told anyone. Normally I may have told Charlie, Connie, and Guy, but Charlie was missing and the ducks were avoiding me. So I had kept it a secret. We finally reached Scooter's dorm which, I had never realized, was down the hall from mine. He unlocked the door and pulled me inside.

"Alrighty then. Sit down." He pushed me gently towards a chair in the corner of his room. "Okay Banks. Here's the question. Layla. Thoughts?"

"Oh. Um I uh well um. She's funny and really pretty but she hates me and has made my life hell."

"Interesting." He gave me a knowing glance before continuing. "Don't pretend Banks. I saw that little moment you two had before the game."

"That was nothing. I just looked t her and she told me the game was starting."

"Uh huh. Sure. Hare to explain why you were looking at her like she invented hockey?"

"What are you talking about?" Is that really how I looked at her? Could she see? Hell, if Scooter could see it from the goal she must know. This is bad. Very bad.

"Uh Banks you good? You kinda started staring off into space."

"Oh yeah sorry. Here's the truth man. I don't know how I feel about her. There's some mixed feelings I guess." I sighed and leaned deeper into the chair thinking.

"Okay I think I got my answer. You can go now. Goodnight Banks see you at practice tomorrow."

"Yeah okay goodnight." I wandered towards my dorm lost in thoughts. What did I think of her? Did I have feelings for her? I sighed knowing the answer.

Yes.
