Always (sequel to Forever)

Chapter Five

A/N: I know this is like so random to be writing about Christmas in October but I've had these chapters written for a while I just never finished them. I'm going to try to get these chapters out sooner than I have but I'm currently actively writing three fanfics and I just started a new job, so please be patient with me. Happy reading :) 

Brittany and Santana had made it back just in time for Christmas Eve festivities but Santana just wanted a little time to herself to think about what had happened in the last couple of days.

"Santana, will you please reconsider coming with us to my grandmother's annual Christmas Eve party?" Brittany pleaded

"I just want to be alone for a little bit, I'll stop by later if it will make you feel better." Santana rubbed Brittany's knuckles with her thumb.

"Please Santana. I don't want you to be alone." Brittany pleaded once more.

"Do you trust me Brittany?" Santana asked.

"Yes"

"Then trust that I'll be okay alone for a little bit. I promise I will come in an hour or two and be with you and Bella." Santana leaned up to kiss her girlfriend.

"Fine but I'm going to be lonely without you." Brittany pouted.

"No you aren't. You'll have Bella." Santana chuckled

"But I want you too." Brittany whined and pulled Santana into her lap so they could be closer.

"Britt, please just let me be alone for a little bit. I promise you I'll come a little later then we'll drive home together."

"Okay" Brittany replied before giving her girlfriend a kiss and walking away. After everyone left Santana sat in the living room and watched one of her favorite Christmas movies. She just needed some time alone to regroup before she went to her girlfriend's grandparents' house. They still didn't really like her, well at least her grandmother didn't. When her movie was over she got up and got dressed in the clothes Brittany had laid out for her. When she was all dressed she grabbed Brittany's keys and drove over to the older Pierce's house. When she arrived she sat in the car for a few moments to collect herself because she was still nervous around Brittany's grandmother. When she was collected enough she went in. She took her shoes off and immediately spotted her girlfriend, she was chatting animatedly with one of her cousins. She decided to do a sneak attack rather than announce her presence so she snuck up behind Brittany and wrapped her arms around her middle.

"Sanny! You're here!" Brittany turned around in her girlfriend's arms.

"I am." Santana giggled. "Where's Bella?"

"She's in the basement with some of the other kids." Brittany replied

"Ok, I'll be right back." Santana told her girlfriend before kissing her on the cheek and going to find her daughter. When Santana got in the basement she didn't see her daughter anywhere. She asked one of the other kids if they knew where she was and they didn't so she searched and searched until she found her in the corner behind the bar. She was sitting on the ground crying. Not loud enough anyone could hear though. Santana's heart broke just a little bit seeing her daughter there crying. "Hey, Bella mommy's here" Santana spoke softly to her daughter and crouched down in front of her.

"Mommy" Bella cried clinging to her mother

"What happened honey?" Santana asked after Bella's crying slowed down.

"Th-they no let me play. Can't find m-momma." Bella stuttered.

"It's okay baby, mommy's here now. Let's go upstairs." Santana stood up with her daughter in her arms. When they got upstairs Santana took Bella to the second floor in the spare bedroom to calm her down some more, she got Bella some water and just held her rubbing her back while her daughter cried.

Meanwhile one of Brittany's cousins saw Santana take Bella upstairs and was concerned. So she went to find Brittany.

"Hey Robin!" Brittany had a big smile on her face when her cousin approached her.

"Britt, I just saw Santana and Bella go upstairs. I think Bella was crying." Robin told Brittany.

"Okay thank you. I'll go check on them." Brittany told her cousin. After talking with her cousin Brittany ran upstairs and looked in all the bedrooms until she found the one her girlfriend and daughter were in. "Hey, what's going on?" Brittany kissed her daughter and girlfriend on the head.

"The kids weren't letting her play and she couldn't find you." Santana whispered.

"Awe Bells I'm sorry." Brittany rubbed her daughters back. Bella didn't respond; she just sniffled and buried her head into her mother's neck.

"I think she's tired Britt. Do you think they'll do presents soon?"

"It's like 10 o'clock so they should. Do you want to go down stairs and just cuddle on the couch while we wait?" Brittany asked.

"I'd love that. Did she fall asleep?" Santana asked her girlfriend.

"Yeah, she did. Do you think she'll wake up for presents or should we just wait until morning?"

"I think we should just wait till morning. I don't want to upset her. Did you bring her blanket?" Santana kissed Bella's head

"Yeah, it's in my parents' car. I'll go grab it." Brittany said walking to the door before Santana stopped her.

"Britt?"

"Yeah babe?" Brittany replied.

"I love you."

"I love you too." Brittany walked back over to her girlfriend and gave her a kiss.

After Brittany left the room Santana just sat there cuddling her daughter making sure she didn't wake up.

When Brittany got down stairs she made her way to her mom. To ask for the keys. After getting the keys she went outside and grabbed Bella's bag which had her blanket and pajamas in it. When she got back inside she was just about to head back upstairs when she heard her name.

"Britt!"

"What's up?" Brittany whipped around

"I was just wondering if Bella was okay?" Robin asked

"She's alright now, I was just about to bring up her blanket, she fell asleep."

"That's good, they're starting presents soon" Robin smiled

"I really have to go" Brittany jutted her thumb out and turned around to make her way back up the stairs. "Hey baby, is she still sleeping?"

"Yeah" Santana smiled.

"Robin said presents were starting soon, I brought Bella's pajamas to change her into." Brittany kissed her girlfriend on the forehead and took their daughter to change her.

When Bella was all changed Brittany insisted on carrying her downstairs for Santana. Luckily no one got wind of presents being soon so they got a spot on the couch. After Santana was seated comfortably Brittany placed their daughter in her arms and they just cuddled until presents started. When one of them had to get up to open up their presents they just opened them where they were not wanting to wake up their daughter. Surprisingly Bella never woke up even with all the commotion, she slept right through it. When presents were over they were the first to get up and say goodbye really quickly so they could get home.

After saying goodbye to everyone the girls got their things and made their way to the car. Santana strapped Bella into her car seat while Brittany put all of their stuff in the trunk. After they were all settled in Brittany drove them home and the couple held hands all the way home. When they got home they didn't have the energy to get the stuff from the trunk so they just got Bella and went upstairs.
