It was Saturday, a full moon, today was 25 hours long and Halloween to top it all off.
(all true this year, only good thing 2020 has given us this year)
Jake knew Dain was nervous, he could see it in his eyes, he never could hide anything "it'll be ok puppy" he said squeezing his hand "you don't have much room to talk Mr. Lard of death" Jake shrugged knowing he was right. The hole day Jake stayed with Dain at his house. Around 7:30 pm Dain grabbed Jake's leg, shaking and breathing heavily before falling into his lap, Jake carefully reached down and rubbed Dain's shoulder not sure what else to do. Dain whimpered loudly as his bones broke and reformed while fur grew quickly all over him until finally he was more wolf then human. He layed there for a few seconds while he tried to adjust to his new form before sitting up. He saw sitting next to Jake, looking at him with his ear flat against his head, worried what the other would think. Jake sighed in relief knowing the other was ok before smiling "aawww puppy your so cute" he said going to pet the other, stopping when he recoiled away from his hand. "What's wrong puppy? Can't I pet my baby?" Jake asked staring at the other, Dain whimpered in response and bowed his head toward the other. Jake reached his hand out again to pet the other, who seemed to actually like it.
Jake looked out the window before turing to the other "it's probably dark enough for me to go out" he said, not really talking to the other but more thinking out loud before getting up, Dain quickly got up running to the door waging his tail excitedly. Jake chuckled before reaching into his pockets pulling out one of Pandora's old collars and leashes. Dain tilted his head confused before going to sniff at his hand, as soon as Dain got closer Jake got on his knees so he was closer to the others level. He reached his arms out to put the collar onto the other, Dain took a few steps back growling deeply seeing what it was "it's ok love, it's just a collar, I can loosen it if you want" Jake cooded sweetly to the other. Dain let out a louder growl crouching down slightly "Puppy, if we're gonna go out you have to be a good boy, if you won't then I'll leave without you" he said calmly waiting for the other to come over. Dain reluctantly walked over bowing his head again, Jake quickly clipped the collar on and rapped his arms around the others neck petting his back "that's my good boy" he cooded softy into the others ear, Dain layed his head on the others shoulder hugging his back the best he could.
Jake leaned away from the hug and quickly clipped the leash onto the collar walking to the door and patting his leg, Dain quickly followed. Jake walked quickly he seemed really nervous as he glanced from person to person as they passed probably on their trick-or-treat routes, many kids stopping wanting to pet Dain, who seemed uncomfortable with others petting him. Both of them ducked over to a park bench, the park was mostly empty as all the kids where busy getting candy. Jake shoved his face into his hands "fuuuuckkk it shouldn't be this hard, everyone's sent is getting messed up in my head, it really shouldn't be that hard to grab a kid, I mean, their parents would just think they got kidnapped by some random person and they didn't notice right?" Dain looked up at him sympathetically before putting his head on the others lap, Jake reached down and lightly pet his head. Dain suddenly looked up tilting his head to one side and let out a deep bark "wanna head off again?" Jake asked standing up, Dain let put another deep bark pulling on the leash. "H-hey calm down, heel" Jake said almost being dragged by the other who quickly went back to walking at his side. They walked along the sidewalk for a few blocks until they found a large group of people again. Dain flattened his hears again almost seeming to sigh before pricking his ear up again and wagging his tail, he walked towards one kid that was dragging behind the group dresses like a cat, he pressed his nose against the kids back, when the kid turned to look at what poked her he bowed down like a dog wanting to play "puppy!!" The kid said happily clapping not noticing the rest of her group walking off. She started mumbling about how cute he was as she pulled on his ears and petting his head, Dain walked towards Jake watching to make sure the kid was fallowed, Jake watched as the rest of her family turned a corner before crouching down to be eye level with the girl as Dain went and sat by his side "you like Dain?" He asked sweetly, she nodded reaching for Dain again, this time grabbing his tain, Jake looked sympathetic to the other as he tried not to growl at the kid. Jake looked up before looking back to the girl "where's your family?" He asked her in the same sweat tone, she turned around to look for them starting to panic notching they where gone "I d'know" she said looking back to the others "that's ok, we'll help you look" Jake told her keeping up the nice guy act "here hold onto Dain's collar so we don't loose you to" he told her lightly grabbing her hand and leading it to Dain's collar before standing up and walking again, with Dain at his side.

As they walked Jake looked at every turn pretending to try to find her family, a few blocks down Jake turned, then turned again into a alley, makingsure there where no security cameras, the kid fallowed him blindly as she was to busy watching Dain. Jake grabbed the kid, one hand over her wrist the other over her mouth dropping Dain's leash in the process knowing he'd want to leave. Dain quickly ran out of there, after he left the alley he walked back to the park they sat at earlier and sat next to the bench. Meanwhile Jake make quick work of the kid draining her blood and leaving the body sitting up next to a dumpster, he cleaned himself up making sure there was no blood on him before walking out of the alley.
He walked a few blocks down before calling for Dain "Dain, where are you, come on buddy" he called before whistling he continued this for a while before bumping into someone "lost your dog hu?" the random person asked "uh, yeah, have you seen him? He's a dark coppery brown color, long fur, about this tall" he said putting his hand above his hip showing ruffly how tall he was "why'd you let it out in the first place, there's been something killing pets, they've put out traps, but I guess you thought you didn't have to worry because you have such a big dog" Jake chuckled awkwardly at the guys response before saying "I think he could hold his own inna fight, he's uh, a wolamute, he's, uh, half wolf, I'm, gonna go find him now" eith that he took off the find him, yelling for him again. He slowed to a stop finding him at the park bench, now laying, with a new kid playing with his ears while both her parents watched. Jake ran over panting "Dain, there you are, I've been looking everywhere I was worried sick" he said almost scolding him, Dain didn't care, seeing Jake her perked up wagging his tail and ran over, Jake crouched down hugging Dain tightly as he licked his face "oh, is this your dog" the mother of the kid that was playing with his earlier said walking over to the two. Jake looked up at her "yeah, he ran off earlier and I've been looking everywhere for him" Jake explained.
"Oh well, how much do you want for him, my daughter likes him" she said in a very 'I want to talk to your manager' tone, Jake was slightly taken aback, "he's not for sale mam" he said at politely as possible before standing up again, not grabbing the leash this time "come on buddy let's go home" he said patting his leg, Dain happily bonded over to his side as they walked back to Dain's house.
After they go back Jake closed the door and leaned against it. "fffffffffuck, let's never do that again" he groaned before making his way to the couch and flopping over onto his back, Dain came over and jumped up to join him laying on top of him. Jame put one hand on each side of his face pushing up lightly "puppy, have you been killing pets?" He asked watching his ears flatten but quickly perk back up, he squinted his eyes as he shifted so he was a little more human before responding in a witty tone with a deep growl in his voice "baby, have you been killing kids?"
"First of all, rude, second of all, sense when could you do that, third of all, I need to so I can live and not hurt you" he said moving his hands so they where on his back.
"Ok then, I could always do this, it's just harder to stay like this, and I need to also, sure I might not eat them, but I still need to hunt, I don't like it, but I can't help it" he responded pinning his ears back, with a slight wimper, mostly covered by the same growl in his voice. "Aw that's ok" Jake cooded, gently moving his hands higher on his back closer to his shoulders, moving his legs so they where rapped around his and kissed his head. Dain relaxed and nuzzled into Jake's chest "did you kill anything tonight?" Jake asked curiously, Dain shook his head, "ok" Jake mumbled, before moving his legs again, moving one of his arms so it's around his wast before standing up carrying the other. "I'm not trying to hurt my back again" he said walking up there stairs and to Dains room. Once they got there Jake gently put the other on the bed still onto of him kissing his face until he noticed Dain wiggling under him, "what's wrong?" he asked the other softy.
"I wanna run" Dain whined in response, Jake chucked before crawling off the other motioning for the other to fallow "and here I am thinking I'd get some sleep this time" Jake chuckled grabbing his keys and walking out the door, Dain at his side.
After they both got into Jake's car and he started it he turned to the other "where to?"
"Forest?" Dain responded as they pulled out of the driveway Jake nodded as they headed down the road with the windows down, Dain had his head out the window happily, now back to being fully wolf. Once they got to the edge of the forest and Jake found a place he could pull off the road that turned to dirt a few miles back, he got out of the car, walking over to open Dain's door knowing it'd be hard for him to do it. "Ok, run where you want, come back before sunrise, and be careful, some guy said they're trying to trap whatever killing pets, cough cough you, they might have set traps out here to" Jake said with a consern in his voice, Dain nodded in response before running off leaving Jake alone, who just climbed back into the car and got on his phone, not to conserned for the other as he could hear him howling ever so often.
A few hours has passed, Jake still wasn't to worried because he saw Dain come back a few times and staying for a second before running back off. He heard Dain howling again, he howled back jokingly until he heard other howls in response, he froze, where there other werewolfs out there? a pack of real wolfs? It was about 5AM, the sun would be coming up in a few more hours. Jake started to get lost in his thought worried that Dain wouldn't come back in time, or that he would be attacked, or fought in a trap. He was abruptly snapped out of his thoughts by scratching at the passenger door, he looked over, he didn't see anything, he shifted in his seat sighing heavily in relief seeing Dain sitting outside waiting for him to open the door. He opened his own door and stepped out walking around the car. Just before he got to where Dain was sitting there was a small pile of dead animals, mostly rabbits, and a few quail "you can't be serious, did you do that?" Jake asked sternly pointing at the pile, Dain yawned and stretched still waiting for Jake to open the door "we're leaving it here" Jake sighed before opening the door. Dain happily jumped in waiting for Jake to join him, he got back in the car a few seconds later, starting it and pulled away. The car ride back was quite as they where both tired from staying up all night. When they got back it was light lit but the sun wasn't up yet, they both stumbled their way up the stairs and fell onto Dains bed falling asleep almost instantly.
