I'm writing this because I have to retrace my steps. My best friend is in danger. From what? I don't know. For how long? I don't know, but if I had to guess, a very long time. This all started a year ago. I was playing on my computer as I usually do. I was about to play a game and as soon as I clicked on it my mouse stopped working completely. I went to go get some batteries but I was out so I decided to drive to the store up the road and get some. It took about five minutes to get there, it's a small enough store but it's got groceries and some other household items, and batteries. I always get side tracked. "Batteries....batteries....batterie-" I was interrupted from my remindful whispering by this girl. "Let me guess, you're looking for... batteries, batteries and probably more batteries, right?" I stopped and just stared at her trying to fathom a way to respond to another human nonetheless a girl human. I don't get much real life interaction so I couldn't think of a way to respond whatsoever, so as my brain stopped working, I stood there like an idiot with my mouth half open, just hoping some words would come out. She finished my thoughts for me, "Well they're over here, I'll show you." I stood there for a couple of seconds and then followed behind her as she walked over to where the batteries were. "I don't know what kind you need but there's triple A, double A, y'know that sort of thing," she smiled at me and laughed. "I don't have much fun very often...I'll see you later. I have to go." That was it, the only girl that will probably ever talk to me was gone. She practically ran out of the store and quickly disappeared into a group of people. I stood there staring in the direction of where she went. Before I even realized I had been staring, a man walked up to the batteries behind me. I turned and saw him and quickly apologized, "Oh I'm sorry, I'll get out of your way. I just need... uhhh... triple A's." I reached out and grabbed them and started to walk away but the man stopped me and said, "Wait a second, that girl you were talking to..." I replied, "We just met." He said, "Oh you met my daughter?" I was surprised that that girl was this man's daughter. I mean I wasn't trying to assume anything rude, it's just he appears and talks in a way that makes him seem so cold, yet she appeared to be the complete opposite. I realized I wasn't saying anything so I responded, "Oh I'm sorry, I don't know her, this is the first time we've met." He replied, "Is that so. Well did she say which way she was going? I need to speak with her." I said, "No, sorry, she just said she had to go and walked away." "Very well," he replied. "If you'll excuse me," and just like that he walked away in the same direction as she did. Something definitely felt really weird about that guy, I started feeling uncomfortable so I decided I better get home quickly. I went through the check out and back to my car. I got in and drove home rather quickly. I decided to go to bed. It wasn't really that late, but I was really tired that and I needed to shake the weird feeling that guy at the store gave me. So I slept.
