I start driving to the store that is closest to my house, it shouldn't take me too long to get there. I'm driving through 3pm traffic which is unbelievably annoying, so I turn on the radio. I like oldies, like Elton John and Eagles. Lucky for me there was a pleasant song on instead of some useless ad commercial. I listen to the end of September by Earth Wind and Fire, when I finally pull into the store parking lot. I parked at a nice spot in the front. I plan to have a quick trip in and out. I walk through the sliding doors and grab a basket. As I'm walking through the store aisles I start to realize that there is a terrible noise coming from the speakers. This noise, commonly referred to as modern pop, is giving me a headache so I put in my earbuds. I always have a pair of earbuds on me. They keep me from losing my sanity. I select shuffle on my spotify and listen to a random song I haven't heard before. I continue to walk down the aisles looking for frozen chicken nuggets. This dang store moves everything around too much, even the frozen stuff. I finally find where they put the chicken nuggets and I get 8 boxes. Yeah that's a lot, no argument there. I start making my way towards the electronics section, where the batteries are. I have my earbuds in and the volume all the way up. This way the store seems completely silent and frozen in time. I much prefer it this way. I'm awaken from my trance as I pass the bathroom. The bathroom is on the right side of the store and I was walking straight. In other words I was walking next to it. That's when a lady ran straight into me at full speed and fell to the ground. She knocked the basket and all the stuff completely out of my hands but I wasn't concerned about that. She lied there sprawled out on the ground. I turned towards her and asked, "Are you okay?!" I outstretched my arm to help her up. She had on a sparkly scarf and a thick tan coat. She lied there for a second and brought her hand to her head, it seemed like she was in a lot of pain. Then she grabbed my arm and did her best to stand. As she did she stepped on her scarf and pulled it off of her, revealing a huge green and purple bruise on her neck. "Woah," I couldn't help but comment. She quickly covered her neck with her hand. As I looked at her closer I realized that this is the same girl from yesterday. The one I talked to about the batteries. What could have given her that bruise? I reach down to pick up her scarf and then hand it to her. "Are you okay? I'm really sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention. You're that girl from yesterday, right?" I guess I didn't recognize her at first because she had her scarf covering her face. "Y-yeah we talked about the batteries. I really have to go." "Wait-" We both paused for a second. I didn't know what to say. She had this scared look on her face. Why was she running? "My name's Jack," I said. "Are you sure you're okay?" She smiled for a second but it quickly disappeared. All at once she reached into her bag and pulled out a pen and paper. She quickly wrote down several digits and then handed the paper to me. Without stopping she picked up her basket and picked up mine and handed it to me. She readjusted her scarf and said, "I really really have to go." And just like that the only girl who will ever talk to me disappeared again. I looked down at the paper. It was her phone number. I assumed it was at least, she didn't write her name on the paper.
