"Dad, it's Sunday," Bri says.
"Uh, it is," I say. "Why are you saying that? Did I forget to take you somewhere?"
She chuckles, "No, dad. It's movie night tonight."
"Oh, right," I say as I put the last plate in the dishwasher. "How about you guys go get your shoes on and we can go to the store to get some snacks?"
"Do uncles remember?" Denton asks.
"I'm sure they do," I say. "I'll text them while you guys get ready."
"Okay!" Denton says super excited.
The two of them run down the hallway yelling Colton's name. Sunday movie nights are their absolute favorite. It has been a tradition ever since Sadie and I got married. We have never missed a Sunday movie night and I don't plan on ever missing one either.
I pull out my phone and I hit Zion's contact name to text him about the movie.
[Text messages: Zion]
Me: Hey, man.
Zion: Yo, what's up?
Me: It's Sunday.
Zion: We know. We will be over in twenty.
Me: Okay. I'm taking the kids to the store right now to get snacks. Do you guys want anything?
Zion: Oreos and pop tarts.
Me: Lol, okay. See you soon.
Zion: Byeeee
I turn my phone off and I walk over to Abigal's seat to get her out. She looks extremely tired and will only last like five minutes into the car ride. She will be up though when it's movie time. That's how she always is.
"We are ready, dad." I pick Abigal up and I look over at the hallway to see Bri, Colton, and Denton all ready to go.
"Good," I smile. "Go ahead and get in the car. I will be out in a second."
They run out the door to get to the car as fast as they can. I put Abigal's shirt on and I grab my wallet. I walk out the door and I go to the car. I put Abigal in her seat and I make sure the other three are all buckled up the right way.
I get in the drivers seat and I put my belt on. I put the car in reverse and I back out of the driveway to head to the store. "So what snacks are you guys thinking tonight?"
"Ice cream," Denton says.
"I just want chips and juice, dad," Colton adds.
"I think both of those will work," I say. "How about you, Bri? What do you want?"
"Chocolate," she says. "And some pop."
"Okay," I smile. "We have to get uncles Oreos and Pop-tarts too."
"Will they share?" Denton asks.
I chuckle, "I'm sure they will if you ask them nicely."
"Yay!" Denton yells a bit loud which makes Abigal start to get a bit fussy. I knew she would be this way. She is very tired.
"Hey, Bri," I say softly. "Can you put the pacifier back in Abigal's mouth, please?"
"Sure," I watch her through the mirror as she puts the pacifier gently in her baby sisters mouth. Abigal starts to suck on it and she instantly closes her eyes again.
Bri is so good with kids. She is such a big help too. Raising four kids alone isn't easy, but it's a blessing to have her help with the boys when Abigal needs my attention. Or when she helps with Abigal when I need to give the boys attention. And I guess the boys are good at helping too when I give the oldest her attention. They will never be too old to get attention from me.
