𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ♡

The main inspiration for Dark Academic fashion comes from 1940's prep school uniforms.

Elements of the 1950's suburban American preppy look are often incorporated, such as sweater vests or sweaters worn tied over the shoulders.

The main colour scheme is black, grey, beige, brown, cream, ivory, dark green, burgundy, and soft yellow. Usual fabric choices are more upscale, like cashmere, wool, and tweed, but linen and cotton are also very common.

Accessories are usually minimal, like bracelets, rings, pendants, watches, cuff-links, and other dapper add-on pieces.

• A silk slip tucked into paperbag trousers. Fastened with a leather belt. A slouchy blazer with structured shoulders. Flowers peeking out of the lapel pocket. Unkempt
curly bob, and earthy red lip.

• A dress shirt, edged with a lace collar, billowing balloon sleeves. Tucked into plaid cigarette pants. All contained by a well fitted waistcoat, which is adorned with a gold pocket watch.

• Beige turtleneck and a tweed pinafore. Felt
bowler hat on the head, brown briefcase in hand. Oxfords on the feet. Thigh high socks.

• An oversized black coat that reaches the shins. Hiding a grey turtleneck and a green mini skirt. Court heels clicking on the marble floors. A book, heavy enough to smash a skull, carried with effortless
elegance. Burgundy lips poised.

• A thick cable knit jumper. Thrown together sloppily with dress pants. Brown boots with laces undone. Gold rimmed glasses sliding down the nose. Natural pink flushes the cheeks.
