This still isn't back to the normal textfic style just yet. We have a lot of drama in this chapter as well!

"Hey, Ava! It's great to finally see you," Claire flashed a smile shaking Ava's hand.

Ava quickly smiled back at Claire.

Cornelius stayed quiet not wanting to make the dinner more awkward.

Finally, Ava's parents showed up. Ava was still terrified and mainly stayed quiet not listening to what was going on around her. She heard a few pieces of the conversation every now and again but never spoke.

Ava stood up from her chair and mumbled, "I'm going to the bathroom,".

Quickly, she walked off to the bathrooms and slammed the door open and slumped against the small bathroom stall trying not to cry.

"Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry," Ava repeated over and over again her voice occasionally cracking, close to letting a flood of tears spill out.

After a second passed by, she wiped the tears away and stood up to look in the mirror.

Once she looked in the mirror she saw herself but she wasn't herself in any way. She seemed like her old self, back in South Africa, a complete mess. Quickly, she redid her makeup in 5 minutes and walked back out of the bathroom feeling everyone's eyes on her.

She took a seat back at the table to see Connor staring at her in concern.

"Avey? Are you alright? You look like you've been crying," Connor whispered in her ear whilst no one was paying attention.

Ava had completely forgotten about her puffy eyes after all the crying she did.

"I-I'm fine," Ava said very unconvincingly since her voice cracked.

Connor knew she wasn't so he planted a kiss on her cheek, which made her blush a crimson red.

Cornelius glared over at them both seeing how close they were together. He had always tried to get them to break up but they never did.

Ava stared right back at Cornelius till he looked away from them both. Connor seemed to be oblivious to his father's behaviour.

"Avey, you don't seem like yourself. I can tell your not okay. Just tell me what's wrong," Connor spoke softly not letting anyone else hear.

"I'm fine, Connor," Ava replied harshly keeping her voice low.

Trying to convince Connor she was fine, she joined into the conversation and acted like her usual talkative self.

"So, are we all ready to order?" Connor asked occasionally glancing at Ava.

Everyone nodded and gave their orders to the waitress.

"So, mum. How are you doing with your job then?" Ava asked.

"Well dear, we are planning on moving down here to stay close to you," Ava's mother responded.

"Really? That's great!"

Their conversation flowed more as time passed by.

Once the food was here Ava stayed silent deciding to enjoy her meal and use it as an excuse to not talk.

After around 10 minutes they all finished their meals.

"What did everyone think of her their meals?" Connor asked.

"Mine was great thanks," Ava responded softly.

All the others responded by saying theirs was also great.

"Ava, so how is yours and Connor relationship so far? Last time I heard you were on a bre-" Cornelius spoke before being interrupted.

"That truly isn't any of your business, Cornelius," Ava replied harshly.

Connor glared at her feeling embarrassed by her response.

"Ava, calm down. I know he annoys you but at least be civil," Connor whispered under his breath.

Ava checked the time seeing it was 10:30 pm.

"I'm sorry to leave but I need to feed my fish," Ava said kissing Connor on the cheek before stepping up out of her chair.

"Ava but you al-" Connor started before he realised what Ava was doing.

Ava left the restaurant with a smile on her face. She soon called a taxi to come to collect her.

Beep beep

She got a text off of Connor.

She stepped into the taxi and head back to hers and Connors house.
