After running for what felt like forever i finally made it to the hospital, i stood in front of the double doors for a moment trying to catch my breath. slowly i stepped forward, causing the double doors to slide open as i walked in. my body started to feel heavy as i made my way inside the hospital. everything sounded muffled. not knowing what happened during the phone call was eating me alive. i walked up to the front desk and gave them my parents names. the lady then gave me a sticker and the room number. Just as i got close i noticed Jisoo crying and talking to the doctor. The moment she noticed me, her sobbing became harder and she ran towards me with open arms. the moment her arms wrapped around me everything went black.

i shot up quickly, panting. Another nightmare. for fucks sake, again?
i rubbed my face before looking at my watch. It read: 4:35am.
I slipped out of bed and put on some slippers. i washed my face then walked back to my bed, i pulled out the suitcase and placed it on my bed. i grabbed a grams worth and rolled it up into a joint. i grabbed my lighter and walked out onto the deck. i leaned against the railing as i smoked and looked around. it had been three days since i last saw Jennie, and i'd be lying if i said i didn't think about her these last three days. i spent those three days locked inside my boat reading and drinking. i spent most of my time just sulking in my self pity. i just wanted to not feel anything anymore.
i looked over at the dinner, i wonder if she's still working right now. immediately, i shook my head, trying to rid my thoughts of her.
After i finished smoking i went back inside and took a quick shower. After getting dressed i turned on the stove and grabbed some eggs from the fridge. As the eggs cooked i grabbed a slice of bread and put it into the toaster.
As i ate my food i read the last of my book. To kill a mockingbird.

I spent my day just like the past three, sulking. i looked at my watch. 9:25pm.
i bit my lip, the dinner closes in five minutes. i grabbed my jacket and rushed to the dinner.
just as i got close to the dinner Rosé walked out, she stopped walking when she noticed me. "Hey, Sam right?" she asked
"the one and only." i said shrugging.
she cleared her throat awkwardly before saying,
"sorry for insulting you the other day."
"its already forgotten, have a good night rosé" i said giving her a smile. She smiled back, "have a good night." she said before walking off to her car.
i looked inside the dinner to see Jennie wiping the tables. i walked in and once she heard the bell she looked up. "hey there you." she said smiling at me.
"hey" i said slowly, "i just thought i'd drop by and say hi" i said awkwardly, scratching the back of my head. "come sit" she said mentioning at the single couches by the fire place.
she quickly disappeared into the kitchen and returned after a few minutes with a plate of muffins and two cups. she took a seat in the other single couch next to me. "i hope you like tea." she said handing me a cup.
i nodded, "thank you."
"i haven't seen you in a few days, its nice to see you again." she said taking a sip of her drink.
i smiled, reaching over for a muffin. i took a bite and it tasted so good. it was soft and tasted like blueberries.
"this is so good." i said, "did you make it?" i asked
she nodded, "i make everything, from breakfast to dinner." she said chuckling slightly.
we continued to eat and drink our tea in silence.
"so what brings you to this small town?" she asked after a moment of silence.
"my boat got stuck here" i stated simply. she chuckled before saying, "so where were you headed then?" she asked
"no where in particular." i said shrugging my shoulders, "i just wanted to get away, so i did."
"why?" she asked. i looked up at her and she had her arm on the arm rest and she had her chin on-top of her hand and she looked at me intently. she looked genuinely interested in our conversation.
"well" i started, before swallowing, "my ex cheated on me so i just got up and left." i said now looking down. i wasn't lying i just didn't tell her everything. she doesn't need to know about my parents.
"i'm sorry, i get that." she said.
"and you?" i asked taking a sip of my tea hoping to change the subject, she furrowed her eyebrows not understand my question. "were you born here, did you move here or..?" i asked
"oh." she said quickly, before clearing her throat. "i moved here. i used to live in seoul and i thought i was in love, he said he had business to do here so i came to surprise him but come to find out that he was cheating on me the whole time so i broke up with him but ended up leaving my hometown and i ended up here." she said letting out a short chuckle.
a guy?
"i'm sorry to hear that." i said as i took a bite of the muffin.
"it was a long time ago, i'm very much over it and happy with living here, its everything i wanted." she said.
i finished my cup and placed it down along with the wrapping that was once holding a muffin.
"and don't think about paying for this." she said as she got up and picked up the cups and plate.
i chuckled and shook my head, "are you ever going to let me pay for anything?" i asked as i walked to the larger counter, leaning against it. She returned from the kitchen and leaned on the counter from the other side, "maybe." she said giving me a smile.
we ended up talking for hours but it only felt like minutes.
i looked at my watch and it read: 12:13am.
"its getting late, i should get going." i stated getting off the stool.
"oh right." she said looking over at a clock that she had hanging on the wall. "i'm sorry for talking your ear off." she stated giggling. i smiled, god how is someone so contagious?
i shook my head, "you could never." i said giving her a half smile.
i opened the door and stepped out only to be followed by her stepping out too. "i'll walk you to your boat." she said giving me a warm smile.
we walked in silence till we reached the boat. i turned around to face her, "have a good night Jennie." i said smiling at her.
She took a step towards me before wrapping her arms around my neck, pulling me close to her in a hug. despite me being taken back by the sudden affection, i wrapped my arms around her waist anyway and leaned into her embrace. it felt nice to be hugged. to be held.
After a while she pulled back and whispered, "have a goodnight too sam." before walking off back to the dinner.
i stood there for a few moments, processing what just happened. she hugged me. and it felt so good.
i took a deep breath trying not to think about it as i went back inside of my boat home.
i took off my shoes, my jeans and plopped onto the bed. what am i doing?
