Chapter 06;
The Book

It wasn't until around nine or ten at night that Taehyun and Beomgyu finally went back downstairs. For most of the time, Taehyun was either falling asleep or fighting Beomgyu's random attacks.

The other times were spent listening to the older boy get sentimental and sappy. He was usually just talking about different dramas he had watched, but there were a few times where his bitter words held a sense of vividness to them.

When Taehyun thought about Beomgyu, he usually associated him with the words 'lively' and 'outgoing'. Sometimes though, he couldn't help but think the boy's opinions on life were cynical.

Maybe it was just because he was a vampire. Taehyun genuinely had no idea what went on in that profound mind of his.

"Oh, Joonwoo is here!" Beomgyu exclaimed, hastily standing up. Following his actions, Taehyun stood up and asked, "who's Joonwoo?" The two boys headed out the door and down the stairs.

Voices conversing with each other finally filled Taehyun's ears. He hesitantly followed Beomgyu as they walked into the kitchen. With glasses perched on his nose and long, soft-black hair, a man stood at the counter.

He was around an inch shorter than Soobin and had stubble lining the bottom half of his pale face. His eyes were practically identical to the younger boy's, contrasting Sooyeon's slender, fierce pair.

The man's hair was gelled back, but still maintained a touch of youthful messiness to it. His shoulders were broad, but his waist was slim, complementing his composed, elegant demeanor.

This man was the definition of what every father hoped their son would grow into. With Soobin following closely in his footsteps, he would eventually be just as flawless. The more he thought about it, the more Taehyun couldn't help but believe Joonwoo and Sooyeon were the most exemplary couple.

As vampires, their physical appearance seemed to stop aging at thirty. Taehyun mentally noted to ask Beomgyu to turn him into a vampire whenever he got the chance to.

"Hello, you must be Taehyun," the man smiled, revealing the same eye-smile as his son. The aforementioned nodded, hesitantly holding a hand out, "yes, I'm Taehyun." Soobin bit down on his lip as to hold back his laughter. His younger brother did the same except he failed.

Joonwoo chuckled, shaking the hand and introducing himself. Glancing back at Beomgyu, Taehyun glared and poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue. He was fully aware of how awkward that was.

The man in the room set a relatively large book on the table. Although he couldn't exactly tell what color it was, Taehyun assumed it was a dark russet. There was a chain wrapped tightly around it with a lock in the middle.

On the lock were glowing, intricate patterns and details that made it seem very mystical. "This is a book on curses in witchcraft," Joonwoo explained after noticing Taehyun staring at it. He pointed to the lock and stated, "unfortunately, it has an enchantment on it so we'll have to find a witch to take that off."

With a hum, Sooyeon suggested, "how about you three go and find one? It'll be a fun adventure for you!" Everyone turned their heads toward her in a concerted manner, Beomgyu commenting, "Taehyun could be dying as we speak."

She shrugged, "it'll be a fun last adventure for him then." The dark-haired boy was about to defend him as Taehyun chuckled. He snapped his head toward the younger and raised an eyebrow. Taehyun just nodded, "if I'm dying, I'd rather spend my last days on this earth doing something exciting."
