{Chapter 5}
~Kylies POV~

     I made sure to check that all the doors in my cabin were locked, including the sliding glass door in my room to my upstairs balcony.  After I was sure my home was secured, I returned to my room. I tossed my clothes in the laundry basket and pulled on my thin silk nightgown, since I always kept it warm inside. Still wary of sleep after the nights events, I laid down reluctantly in my bed. Staring up at the ceiling, I tried to clear my mind of worries and thoughts.

Eventually my eyes began to get heavy, and my mind drifted off into a dream.

~Jacks POV~

    I waited in the shadows, hiding at the edge of the woods behind a tree. It was past midnight now, an hour since the light in Kylie's bedroom had gone out.

'I was pretty sure she would be asleep by now.'  Quietly, I walked towards the downstairs back door, as I pulled my small lock picking kit from my front pocket.  There was just enough moonlight from the full moon above, to see the door handle as I picked the lock and opened the back door. I returned my lock pick kit to my pocket, and slipped inside silently.

'I knew the layout of her house pretty well now after I had gone in a few times.'

When I rounded the corner to the stairs, I saw her cat dart quickly past me into the kitchen, tail fluffed up.

I began to climb the stairs, careful not to make a sound.  A tightness in my chest built up as I neared her bedroom, I stopped in front of her bedroom door and listened. 'I could hear her breathing deeply, sleeping.'  My heart beat fast in anticipation as I reached out and touched the door handle.

Pulling open the door slowly and quietly, I peered inside. 'There she was, the only good thing in my life. And nothing would keep me from having her.'

'I just couldn't stay away from her, I needed to make her see. I had to make her remember! I couldn't just let her forget me forever, I wouldn't give up for anything!'

'She was the only person who had ever mattered, the only thing that had ever made me feel alive.'

I stepped forward into her room, moving closer to her bed. She was illuminated dimly by the moonlight that filtered through her red curtains, which cast an eerie glow about the room. She looked peaceful resting, all the usual tension gone from her body.
