Chapter 5

River

Busy at the sports field with the rest of the football team, practicing for our next game which happens to be coming up in three weeks from now. Ace stands a few meters away from me waiting for me to pass the ball over to him, just then, I see Ava's petite figure across the field, of course I knew I was eventually going to see her at school but I was hoping I wouldn't. I hate to admit it but I feel bad about what I said to her earlier today, she didn't deserve that.

"River! come on" Milton, one of the guys on the team called to me.

I got a little distracted for a moment making me kick the ball higher than I was suppose to. It flew to the edge of the field, hitting someone and the person fell to the ground.

Ava.

I try going over to help but stop in my tracks when I see  Ace walking over to her, offering her a hand, she took it and he helped her up. He must have said something funny because I can tell she's smiling.

Was she blushing? 

I like it when she turns bright red, its cute and right now, she looked cute I guess. Don't get me wrong, not that I'm into her or anything like that, she just seem like good company to me.Just then I hear a familiar voice call out to me from a distance, forcing me to tear my eyes away from Ava and Ace.

"River" Jade walks over to me with her minions behind her.

"Hey Babe" I reply and then she kisses me, all of a sudden a bunch of catcalls and whistles filled the air, Jade seemed to like the attention but I was more interested In Ace and Ava right now. When I look over at where Ava stood minutes ago, I realize that she had already left. That should be good for me though. I really don't like to feel this bad about anything but right now, all I could think about was apologizing to Ava, or maybe I shouldn't. I don't know. For the first time ever, I don't know what to do.

Ava

The school day passes by faster than I thought it would and before I knew it, the dismissal bell rings. Luckily, no one asked about my house, even Steph and Bella were to busy to ask about my new place and that's good for me. Last thing I need right now is anyone finding out I stay at with Greenwood's.

I sat by the bleachers, watching the guys on the football team practice for the upcoming game, something I wouldn't normally do but I had to wait for Steph and Bella to finish up from drama club meeting since I was catching a ride with them and the sports field seemed like the closest place to the parking lot so I decided to wait here. Unfortunately, I am reminded that the FAB4 were also on the football team. River's the first person I spot, standing in front of the post at the other side of the field with Ace standing a few meters away from him and Blake beside him. I really didn't want to see River right now although he looks so good in his practice jersey, I am still pissed at him for being an asshole this morning. I tear my eyes away from him turning towards the parking lot and I spot Steph and Bella, Steph leaning against her black ford that's parked in the front row, her phone that settles in her hand is pressed up against her ear and she's in a deep conversation with whoever is on the other end. She spots me then waves for me to come over. I quickly gather my things and start to walk over to her but I get hit on my back by what seems to be the soccer ball making me fall on my butt.

Ouch! that hurt.

As I force my eyes open, I see a pair of hazel eyes staring back at me, Ace King was staring at me, his lips were tugged up to form a small smile. He seemed more amused than sympathetic but he was gorgeous. 

"Need a hand or is lying on wet grass kinda like your thing?" He teased and I could feel my cheeks heat up. He chuckles then outstretches his hands, I reach for them and he pulls me up to my feet but he doesn't leave.
