"which shops do you want to visit first?"
kohana's indigo eyes scanned the nearby shops - the variety of clothing and stationery shops was enough for her to be entertained for the next few hours.
akaashi smiled in response to her overexcitement; the elation that coursed through her body was satisfying for him to see.
it was simple moments like this where all the worries that were on keiji's mind were able to be forgotten. time seemed endless. the present is really a gift, is it not?
aphrodite really had gifted, yet cursed him at the same time.
with her free hand, she pointed at a cute-looking clothing shop. she began to slowly walk over to it, clutching onto her cane for support. keiji walked casually yet cautiously by her side, in case her legs gave way and she needed more help.
it pained him to see her like this; so feeble and ill. he didn't understand how she still managed to always wear a smile on her face, even when her body was deteriorating.
how was she so accepting of the near, inevitable future?
as he took the first step into the pastel-tinted shop, a sickeningly sweet smell found its way into his nose and filled it with a heavy aroma. the mixture of lavender, candy and an assortment of teenage girl perfumes had been awaiting the two's arrival, as if the scent itself were paparazzi waiting for celebrities to walk the red carpet.
and thus began her shopping frenzy. it didn't matter to her that she wasn't going to be able to wear every outfit before her time eclipsed; she was happy to be in the moment. knowing that akaashi was by her side,
her smile never faded.

four hours later, keiji found himself carrying several bags on his forearms, as her now exhausted body continued to infirmly grasp onto her cane. her once goddess-like hair was beginning to dull even more, and her eyes were beginning to show a sense of exhaustion too.
on their way out of the mall, a quiet shop stood, finding its way into kohana's now drained eyesight. seeing this brought back a joyous aura around her. turning towards keiji, she told him to "wait here" as she walked as quickly as her frail body would let her into the pristine white jewellery shop.
minutes later, she returned with two identical braided bracelets. with her spare hand, she gently grabbed his wrist as if telling him to lift it, and as he was doing such she put the bracelet around his wrist. once she'd done this, she did the same with the other bracelet, except on her own wrist. keiji held onto her as she used her other hand to put it on her.
with a large smile, she looked up at keiji's patient body, and with her voice laced with warmth, she exclaimed,
"these are to keep us together, no matter how far apart we are! it doesn't matter if we can't see each other, as long as we both wear these we'll be able to be alongside one another!"
of course. keiji had been so mesmerised by her grace that he'd forgotten about what was soon to come. however, her childish impulse buy meant a lot to him, and hearing her say such a positive outlook on the future brought his frantic mind a bit of serenity.
his eyes now watery and reflecting the light above them, he looked at her spectral yet divine self and said, "you're an angel trapped in the form of a mortal."
her smile reducing and her facial expression becoming slightly more serious, she responded,
