That Friday at school seemed like it was taking forever. I was watching the clock none stop. Reading, then math, science, then lunch, band, then art it was taking a lifetime. I just wanted to go home and sleep so I could wake up Saturday then be on the plane.
Finally 2:15 hit. It was time. I ran down the student filled hallways at RiverView Middle school, went to my locker, the third one on the left I remembered exactly which one was mine because my locker wasn't like the other ones. There was I line of locker on the walls. All of them were blue and green and on each floor of the school there was always one yellow one. I was lucky this year cause my locker was the yellow one. I grabbed my backpack and as soon as I was getting ready to walk away I was surrounded. By the 3 Willis sisters. These girls were so mean to everyone. The oldest sister was LaVontris she was a 7th grader and she was a ugly motherfucker. Real dark, had a skimpy little ponytail and a face full of acne. She was big and scared everyone in the school. Everyone except for me. I ain't care how big she was or how bad she thought she was she didn't scare me. Not even a little bit.
Her two little sisters are twins, their names are Blaire and Alexis. They were in my class and hated me. For no reason at all. Whenever I would walk through the halls they would try and trip me, push me into lockers, throw balls of paper at the back of my head, all that. I never said anything I kept to myself but today I was sick of it. "What's up princess?" LaVontris said to me with a sarcastic tone of voice.
"Nothing at all." I replied with an attitude looking down at her beat up black AirForce Ones™.
"I'm trying to get home though I need to help my aunt with a few-"
"Aunt?" Blaire interrupted me. "I thought she was your mom little lier.. Anything else you wanna lie about?" She asked rolling her eyes "I'm not lying" I said quietly. "She is my aunt but she raised me as if she was my mom. I don't have time for this today I gotta go" I said trying to brush pass the twins.
"You ain't leaving this school no time soon"Alexis said grabbing me by the strap on my backpack.
I yanked my strap back and turned around slowly. I was mad as hell. I was so furious I've never been so upset before. "I said.. I have to go. I have things to do I need to get home" I slowed it down for them so they can understand. At this point I had the biggest attitude ever. Then all of a sudden WACK. My ear was ringing Blaire had hit me on the side of my face with a ruler. My expression went blank. Then I snapped. I grabbed her by her hair and banged her face up against the locker all of a sudden LaVontris was pulling my off of her sister throwing to the floor. All three of this sisters took turns kicking and punching me in the stomach for what felt like an hour then two teachers came in broke up the fight. I was so devastated before the teachers could even ask what was wrong I grabbed my back pack and ran outta the school. I ran all the way home. Normally I caught the school bus home but I ran and didn't stop. I lived a good 30minutes away from school walking but the way I was running I got home in 10-15 minutes. I got in the house ran upstairs bust open my aunt room door and yelled "I DON'T WANNA LIVE IN ATLANTA AMYMORE " She was shell shocked at what I said and apparently the scars I had all over me. I turned around went in my room slammed and locked my room door and laid on bed crying my eyes out. -Knock knock- "Can I come in moki?" My aunt ask softly. I didn't reply. "Juicy baby. Talk to auntie. Please?" I didn't get to reply she open my door. Which was confusing cause I swear I locked the door. She came in my room with a bowl of warm water and a dark blue wash cloth. "What happened?" She asked. I laid my head on her lap and told her everything. I talked she listened. As she listened she washed the scratches on my face and put Neosporin on them. "Well juicy" she said. "Forget about that school your leaving. Don't worry about it anymore what you need to be thinking about is the flight we have to catch in the morning. Are you excited?" She said standing up. "Yeah I am. More nervous than excited. But I'm ready." I replied. "Why you nervous Moki?" "Because" I said. "These people are new to me. I don't know them. They might not like me. Its a new place. I'm just scared that's all" My aunt smiled at me. "Your gonna be a little nervous but that's OK. It'll be OK. I'm gonna be there for you and with you Its not like your going alone moe" She walked over gave me a kiss on the forehead the walked back outta the room. She was right. These were my parents. Not strangers. Everything was gonna be fine. I changed out of school clothes then went downstairs my aunt didn't feel like cooking so we went to Golden Corral for dinner. I was so ready to get home and go to sleep I was gonna wake up and be too excited to heading to Minnesota. Wherever the hell that was. All I knew is it up north and cold as hell but it was May so it couldn't have been that cold. Right?
