He heard screaming.

The greenette was quick to filter out the screaming, leaving it as background noise and ignoring it like he usually did. His dulled emerald eyes had gazed upon the fragment of glass that was shiny enough to show his reflection. Either that or it was simply just a piece of a broken mirror.

He reached for the piece and held it in his hands, looking to see someone he didn't even recognize anymore. He stared at himself in the reflection and noted how big his eyes looked, most likely the most prominent feature on his face now that he thought about it.

He'd remembered when he went to school, before he got pulled out because he was an omega, and recalled how kids and adults alike would mostly compliment him on his eyes. He was told that they were so bright and green like emeralds. People would tell him about his heart of gold as well as his spirit that was 'strong as steel'. They noted his jade green hair and, given he was often compared to jewels and metals, the people he knew used to call him the gem of the town.

His old town was one he barely remembered since his memories of back then are like a huge blur, with only weird fragments of memories being embedded in his brain. It's funny because he doesn't recall having a sad childhood, but somehow all of the things that he can remember about his childhood are all memories of injuries and horrible times. When he was verbally and mentally bullied by his friends, for example.

The greenette always tried to recall some of their names or faces but the only word he remembered was something sounding like 'Kacchan'.

He brushed the thought of that away, trying to actually remember a happy time in his childhood. Though, all that seemed to pop up were stories about scars on his body. They weren't because of bad things, more so just kids being dumb. Though, he assumed his memory loss had something to do with an incident he was told that had happened. He didn't even remember the incident; his mother was the one to tell him about it when he was older.

It was him and his friends at the park and somehow, for some reason, one of the kids decided to drop bricks— or something of that sort— off the playground ramp to see if it would break. Now, the greenette knew that it was stupid, according to his mother, so he just stayed on the sidelines. Turns out, one of his friends had come by him with a brick to demonstrate how high he could throw it in the air.

Which is how the freckled boy ended up in the hospital, with medical glue being used on his head due to it being split open.

The omega wondered if there was really anything to miss about his old life. There probably was; he remembered his mother from after the accident but now her face seemed like a blur in his mind. She was a good mother, he knew that much, but he didn't have any specific memories with her in it. He recalled that she was often at work so that probably didn't help the situation either.

So maybe it was a good thing that he had forgotten. He couldn't brood over something he can't remember. He can't cry about his 'better' past if he didn't fully remember it.

But it would be nice to have some happiness to hold onto.

He lowered the piece of glass as he glanced up at the door. The room he was in was relatively small but at least it was bigger than it had been back when he was with them. Apparently the alpha who 'owned' him a little over two weeks ago had been so fed up with him.

So he put him up for sale on the black market.

The greenette didn't mind; he just hoped he would end up somewhere better soon. Though; he hated places like the one he was in now. It was like a prison and right now he was in his cell. His cold and dark cell with the basic necessities available to him. They didn't even bother to give him new clothes. All he sported was his black turtleneck and his tattered whitewashed jeans, which he didn't like all that much; they weren't very comfortable.
