This particular breed of horse can be categorised a Warmblood, and is in fact one of the oldest Warmblood breeds. Warmbloods include horses like Hanoverians, Holsteiners/Holsteins, Oldenburgs, Trakehners, Barvarian Warmbloods, Selle Francais, Belgian Warmbloods, Dutch Warmbloods, Swiss Warmbloods and Danish Warmbloods.
They were originally used as carriage horses, but since then, Thoroughbred bloodlines had made this breed lighter and more agile. Hanoverians have very strict breeding so that specific traits continue through generation after generation. Some of these traits are their good temperament, athleticism, beauty, willingness, trainability, strong backs, strong limbs and a powerful body.
