Rukmini, Reluctantly, with a bright red tinge on her face, Uttered"Krishna..."
She looked down with embarassment. She was confused if it was appropriate, for her, an unmarried girl to ask about a person so openly.
Devarshi Narada chuckled at Rukmini's baffled expression.
"It is of no wonder if anyone wish to know more about him, such is his glory. And I would be more than happy to tell his tales of wonder to you"
Rukmini became thrilled hearing the words of Narada. She settled herself more comfortably in her seat. Her glittering eyes looked on at Narada.
"I will first tell you the story of his birth"Narada started.
"It was the day of Devaki's wedding with Vasudeva, both from the yaduvansh. After the grant wedding ceremony, it was time for devaki to bid farewell from her family. As per the ritual, Kamsa, Devaki's brother rode the chariot from Devaki's home to Vasudeva's"
"Oh, I have heard about Kamsa. I have heard that he was killed by Krishna himself."Rukmini shared her part of Information.
"Yes Rajkumari, Kamsa was an evil king, who established his rule forcefully on the people of Mathura. He was Kalanemi reborn and son of Maharani Padmavati and Maharaja Ugrasena or so it is told. In reality, The child was forced upon the Maharani by a Gandharva. As a result, Maharani cursed her child to be killed by a true Yadava. And therefore, one reason from the many of Krishna's birth is death of Kamsa"
Rukmini was amazed by this new knowledge.
Narada continued"So, When they were about to reach Vasudeva's palace, a divine voice erupted. It said 'Kamsa is such a fool to let go of Devaki whose eighth son would be his destroyer'.
Kamsa who heard it, took his shining sharp sword in a swift motion aiming it on Devaki who was standing there with perplexed expression. Seeing her brother aiming the sword towards her fell down at his feet and started crying and pleading 'No jyeshth, No. How can my son, your nephew be your villain. I promise you Jyeshth, this won't happen.'
'Your words have no validity here. Right now there is nothing important than my life. No mother, no son. I have to kill you' Kamsa said ready to shield his swords. Devaki, who have fallen down on the moist soil, terrored by the words of Kamsa, shut her eyes and prayed to God for a miracle.
Vasudeva who was witnessing the whole scenario, on seeing the actions of Kamsa took his sword and blocked Kamsa's sword.
Vasudeva, with a voice filled with disgust expressed his thought 'Kamsa, don't be a coward. How can you kill a woman, that too your sister due to fear of death. Be a man'. Kamsa glared at Vasudeva.
Vasudeva sensing that Kamsa has not yet approved of his words said with dejected voice 'I promise that as soon as the prophesied child is born, I will present it to you and you can do whatever you want to do'
Kamsa still not satisfied said 'Not just the eighth child, you should present to me every child born to you and Devaki'.
Vasudeva instantly agreed. But even if it's like that, Kamsa put Vasudeva and Devaki in far away jail."
"Why didn't Kamsa separate Vasudevaji and Mata Devaki?"Rukmini asked confused.
"Yes, he could have done that. But since Kamsa was someone who cared for his image among the public, such a decision would certainly ruin his reputation as brave and give him the title of a coward. Therefore he decided to keep them together and kill the baby as soon as it is born.
And so... After a long wait, Vasudeva and Devaki's first son was born. As promised, Vasudeva with a heavy heart took his newborn child to Kamsa and presented it to him.
