September, 1978
A scream. His scream.
He felt a hand stroke his arm. The questions of who was comforting caused him to bolt up, his eyes adjusted to the sudden change of light. It was unusual, no one had done this before. Sure he had been touched by people but never in a caring matter.
He realised he was in the hospital wing after several trips in the six years he had spent at the school. Mostly caused by the sporty wizard game, being seeker in quiditch often landed him in the care of madame pomfrey.
"so you decided to wake up" her knees were hidden in her chest and her chin rested on that as she peered up from the book she was currently reading.
He groaned, his head throbbing after recalling how he fell. "how long have I been here divaun? " he said scratching at the back of his scalp. A sharp pain cut through and he winced.
"a couple hours, the nurse went to get lunch" she didn't seen too worried so he decided not too be either.
"and your here because..."
"because I was the one who found you, of course"
"how unfortunate for you"
"No, I should thank you really, no lessons today for me" she said with a wink and cheeriness.
"nice to see someone's making light out of my headache"
Before she could reply, in strode proffesor dumbledor with pomfrey. They were talking quite carefree about his state until they realised he was awake and turned their voices into hushed tones.
"Mr black, we are aware of your stability and have advised that we have a carer to watch over yourself" he scoffed in disgust, he was clearly fine and didn't need a babysitter.
"that won't be needed sir"
"it wasn't up for debate regulus. I'm sure marielle will be fine with caring for you" His heart dropped, that lazy excuse for a girl who had no interest in education and stuck her head in a book as an escape of reality was going to be watching over him, how low could they possibly get.
"sure"

He took long strides, all he wanted to do was faceplant into the comfort of his soft mattress.
Behind him trailed marielle, humming to herself and glancing out the windows. She followed him down the stairs, light was sparce and everything had gotten much gloomier.
She gritted her teeth, before running after the raven haired boy.
"so you are to be my new roommate" She tried making light if the situation.
"Seems so"
Something was off, other than the obvious fact he had fainted earlier that day. He had a much bitter tone and his temper was much shorter, snapping at her if she trailed behind to slowly.
He muttered something before slamming shut the portrait. She jumped at the sudden noise. Shit.
She'd forgotten to ask for the password, she sat in the isolated hallway on top of the box that held all her luggage. Thankfully she hadn't unpacked just yet so moving in would be easier.
"please may you let me in sir" the painting snarled at her.
"YOU NEED THE PASSWORD YOU BLITHERING IDIOT"
It seemed she was getting on everyone's nerves and it was only the first day. She sighed before diving back into the book that she held tightly in her little hands.
