The 1900's era was the period in which the main transportation used by people during that time were carriages drawn by horses. The women wore frilly, puffed blouses and fluted skirts. While the men's suits consisted of three pieces, such as jackets, trousers, and a vest, usually known as a waistcoat.
The sleepy town of Hallowpass was situated in the outskirt of Westborough City. It has a population of more than 10,000, consisting of merchants, farmers, fishermen, coal miners, gypsies, and a lot more that can't be seen with a human eye.
The last mansion on Garnet Street was noticeably dark tonight. The lamp post on the gate was turned off.
Laura and her sister Sofia just came home from attending a birthday party with their friends. The gate was opened by the newly hired guard. The last guard already resigned last week due to old age.
"Why the light is off, Finley?" Laura asked the guard, frowning.
"The light just died today, Miss. It needs to be replaced. I already informed Madam about it," Finley replied.
Laura and her sister moved to the huge lawn, passing gardens of blooming flowers and mystic fountains.
Then they halted on their tracks before reaching the entrance of the house. The girls' eyes widened in shock and horror... for hundreds of scary-looking men were blocking the entrance of the house, they were wearing a long black hooded cape which covered the rest of their faces and bodies.
Sofia clutched her sister's arms in alarmed. "Sis, what are these dark men doing in our house?" she asked in a terrified voice.
Laura took a deep breath, trying to calm her tense nerves. She had seen this scene a thousand times in her dreams, and now it's finally happening! She closed her eyes for a moment gathering enough strength to investigate what's going on inside the house.
She feared that her parents were already in danger. "You go to the swing and wait for me there," she whispered. "No matter what happened...do not enter the house. If you see a commotion or hear something, don't hesitate to run towards the shade, enter the shelter, and locked yourself there. Do you understated, sister?" she ordered.
Sofia nodded her head and slowly walked towards the shade where the rusted iron swing was located. She sat on the swing, looking fearfully at her sister.
Laura took a step forward, going towards the door. The black hooded cape men were not blocking her path, instead, they opened the door for her, bowing their heads while she was walking past them on her way to the door.
She entered the door with trembling knees...what she saw in the living room made her fearful for the lives of her parents. It was like a hurricane visited their living room. Her favorite couch and all furniture were broken into pieces...the center table was torn in half and the windows were shattered.
She was careful not to step into broken pieces of furniture and figurines scattered all over the floor. The only thing that was not destroyed, was the chandelier hanging brightly in the ceiling.
She looked up at the top of the stairs... they're probably there. She fights the urge to call her parents, fearing that they're already dead. By the look of things in the living room, it seems the visitors are not here to share tea with her parents.
They're here for something else...
She forced her trembling knees to move forward. She has to find out what happened to her parents.
She was about to step into the stairs when she feels that someone is looking at her and when she raised her head... there at the top of the stairs are two people in black hooded cape looking at her.
