Hermione was late into work. So very late. Her small heels couldn't carry her fast enough to her desk if she tried. She was at her desk approximately three minutes before her boss strode through and he already wasn't happy with her. He was shouting before he even got to her desk. Something about a late report and that it was her responsibility to make sure that all reports were handed in on time. Hermione merely nodded; he reminded her a lot of what Snape had been like. Hermione took the chiding before continuing on with her work that she should have done two days ago. Her head ached as she worked through the meaningless work. She was in the full depths of house elf relocation policy when someone cleared their throat next to her. Hermione jumped with a squeak she looked up to see Lyra stood there her hands fisted in her pockets looking bored.
"What are you doing here?" Hermione asked without thinking. Lyra raised a sculpted eyebrow.
"Is that how you greet all guests in your department Granger?" Lyra asked with a sneer. Hermione shook her head trying to correct herself,
"Sorry, what is it I can do for you?" Hermione asked kicking herself.
"I have a meeting with your Head of Department, maybe I should bring your demeanor to his attention" Lyra stated with a frown,
"Is that a threat?" Hermione asked, she was in no mood for Lyra's games.
"Merely an observation" Lyra sneered. Hermione took a deep breath calming herself.
"What can I do for you?" Hermione asked again with a strained smile. Lyra smirked,
"I came to check on your progress for a new house elf" Lyra stated as she wandered around Hermione's small cramped office,
"I haven't had a chance as of yet-" She heard Lyra give a sigh of annoyance. Hermione watched her turn to her and she looked like Lucius. The same sneer, the same narrowed eyes and Hermione's breath caught. She understood why Lyra was such a formidable opponent on the battlefield and now in business, she was intimidating.
"I have to go away for a few weeks. I expect it done by the time I return" Lyra stated collecting herself she adjusted her jacket.
"Few weeks?" Hermione asked, "It takes a long time to source-"
Suddenly Lyra was there an inch from Hermione's face.
"You have till the end of the month Granger" Hermione felt the edge of her desk press into the backs of her thighs and Lyra's sweet breath dance over her face, "Or I'll report your little experiment to your boss" Hermione's breath hitched, she had been silly to think Lyra wouldn't know the correct procedure.
"How-"
"I'm not an idiot" Lyra stated straightening herself and taking a step away from Hermione, "The end of the month" Lyra stated as she pulled her gloves on,
"Where are you going for such a long time?" Hermione asked without thinking. Lyra looked up with a frown before turning and striding out of Hermione's office,
"The Outer Hebrides" Lyra called as she walked away. Hermione frowned, why would Lyra want to go to the Hebrides. She met Ginny and Harry for lunch that day and relayed her morning and evening to the black haired boy. Harry was shaking his head as he relayed everything,
"So, let me get this straight, Ron stood you up at dinner and then Lyra pinned you to your desk the morning after?" Harry asked, Hermione turned red,
"When I said to move on last night, I didn't think it'd be this quick" Ginny added,
"No that's not-"
"Ron's going to freak" Harry added and Ginny nodded.
"That's not what happened" Hermione shouted at them both as she turned almost purple in embarrassment. They both chuckled, before Harry asked,
