Careeing up your front steps, you stumbled through your front door and slammed it shut. Gasping for breath, you leaned heavily back against it gazing towards the ceiling, head spinning, and replaying what had just happened. 'I crashed into an incredibly attractive guy, fell down, and promptly ran away. That's fine, I'm fine. oOohohhhh, I'm so not fine.' Suddenly, a knocking at the door startled you from your thoughts.

Knock, knock, knock.

'Shitshitshitshit this is some horror movie fucking shit!' You slowly stand, holding your breath, peering out the through peep hole in the door. There was no one there. Carefully, you opened the door to find-your phone?

Your hands immediately go to your pockets, patting vigorously despite the obvious absence of your phone. Bending down to pick it up, your eye catches a folded piece of paper beneath the phone. You grab both, and unfold the paper to reveal a note written in messy, swirled handwriting.

I'm so sorry for bumping into you! To make it up, would you like to go to coffee                                      with me?

                                           -Matthew W.

And beneath the message was a phone number. 'Matthew, huh.' You think, a small smile creeping onto your face. Then you shook your head vigorously, "No, what the actual?" you say aloud to what you hoped was only yourself. Looking around cautiously you step back inside and lock the door behind you.

Later that evening, you found yourself once more glancing at the note that you had set aside on your desk. You had tried and failed to put it out of your mind, to do your homework, or maybe work on that project you've been putting off, or just anything besides staring at that note! But every attempt at distraction failed. You couldn't stand it anymore more and texted your closest friend, Sophia, to tell her about your very strange walk home.

"Dude. You will never believe what happened after I left!!" you texted Sophia.

"What?!? Family stuff? Fandom stuff??? Or!! maybe it's a guyyy ;))) " she answered back, correctly guessing the exact problem within the first go. It wasn't surprising, but it did make you wonder.

"Uh, Yeah actually, are you psychic or something?" you teased.

"No. wellll, Maybe. You'll never be able to prove it tho. Anyway, spill. Tell me EVERYTHING!"

So you do. You tell your story in excruciating detail as if it had only happened 5 minutes ago because you couldn't stop thinking about it. And, it will most likely haunt you forever and you'll never truly be able to get rid of these embarrassing memories.

"So?? What should I do? Should I text him?" you finally ask, staring at the note. He did seem so nice, even if the following you home to return your phone was a little on the creepy side. And maybe if you did go you could explain yourself better, tell that it's really not his fault?

"Well, first of all do you even know his name?" Sophia asks you.

"Yes..."

"Well, what is it?" she prodded.

"Matthew."

"And maybe a last name? Any defining details??"

"His last name starts with a W, he didn't leave anything else. And he looked like he was in college. I would say highschool except for there are only 48 seniors and we're two of 'em."

"OK. AND?"

"Well, idk, it looked like he had purple eyes?? idk"

"Omg. I might actually know who you're talking about."

"WHAT?! No way, how?"

"Well there's a guy in my ASL class at the college named Matthew Williams. It might be him."

"Is he also tall and blonde?"

"YES! Exactly! He's so nice, a little quiet, but nice!"

'Quiet...' you thought, 'well quiet is nice...NO. Nope. It's not about that!!' Why everything had to dissolve into a chance at romance, you didn't know, but you'd been burned so many times before and you just couldn't let yourself get swept up in the ideation of anything like that again. If you were going to meet up with him, it would just be to apologize. 'And maybe make a new friend??? NOPE.' No, even thinking that was going too far. Nothing in life so far had proved to be anything like any rom-com ever, and random guys returning phones after being body slammed by klutzs like you definitely wasn't going to turn into the next blockbuster. 'I'm just formally apologizing, nothing else.'

"Okay I'm texting him," you tell Sophia.

"Yes girl gET IT!!!!" Sophia replied

"ITS NOT LIKE THAT"

"hahahahahahaha"
