younghoon pulled the door open, a grin automatically creeping up his handsome face as a vampire, a ghoul and an adorable fairy beamed in front of him.

"trick or treat!", they exclaimed happily before attempting to plaster on several expressions which imitated the characters they dressed up as. the vampire kid drew his fake fangs out and hissed, the ghost moaned out a little 'wooooooo' and the fairy swished her pretty pink wand against the air.

younghoon adored children.

"wah, you guys are scary!", he laughed as he then stuffed some candy inside each of the kids' containers, crouching down to level with the fairy's face then flashing his oh so charming smile. "and you are very pretty.", he added. "now run along, you still have many houses to visit and plenty of candies to take.", he snorted, patting the ghost's head and turning to head back inside.

"next year, i'm gonna be a princess and he's gonna be my prince charming!", he could hear the little girl proudly exclaim the moment he shut the door behind him followed by her friends' laughter. it made him smile once more. he always wanted to be an older brother.

however, as he reached the living room where his other nine companions were situated, the tugging of his labial commissures shifted down into a firm thin line - and he was no longer smiling.

but he never adored his childishness.

shrugging, younghoon approached the couch and occupied the space in between chanhee and kevin, his eyes trailing back towards the television screen - now focusing on the horror film that's been playing this entire time.

nobody uttered a word as everyone allowed nothing but the silence accompanied by the dialogues, eerie music and horrified screaming from the movie to envelop the entire living room.

at the far corner of the place, if you watched closely, you can spot someone biting on the inside of his bottom lip, trying to surpress a smile. haknyeon failed, however, for soon enough, his lips had tugged up into a small smirk.

haknyeon loved silence and the quiet atmosphere.

"you're scarier than changmin.", haknyeon heard hyunjae whisper from beside him. the younger lad tore his gaze away from the screen and bore his attention towards the latter. "oh?", he replied. "you're literally smiling while the woman's getting her body chopped into pieces.", hyunjae reasoned out as he pointed at the gorey scene before them. "oh.", haknyeon composed himself, only to shrug afterwards. the smirk had faded now as he continued watching.

but there was never a quiet time with him around.

an hour had passed and the film finally came into an end - it was almost midnight then, time for bed. nobody uttered a word as they gathered their things and began cleaning off the coffee table which had empty boxes of pizza and chicken as well as other condiments on it.

that was until they heard a tiny whimper from changmin. "it's been a year.", he managed to speak, his voice almost cracking.

silence ensued.

"i'll get it.", juyeon lazily grumbled and hurried towards the door, wanting to escape the sudden awkward atmosphere changmin created with just a single phrase. he was expecting a young trick-or-treater to demand for some candy but was instead greeted by an unexpected sight to which he reacted by violently slamming the door shut.

juyeon loved surprises.

"what the hell, juyeon?", the nine boys quickly snapped their attention to the male who was now pale in fright, beads of cold sweat accumulating his forehead and looking as if he'd seen a ghost. well, did he?

but he despises this one.

"it's sunwoo."

they looked at the wall clock. it was midnight.
