He pondered the nature of her sudden confession.
In an instant, his mind raced through his mind about her reversing her decision of yesterday, about the possibility that she already had someone else in mind.
Or about herself. What was the cause of her ill health? Is she seriously ill?

Either way, his heart would be shattered. He could only imagine how amazingly tragic it would be.

She looked into his very pale face with concern.

'Are you okay? Should I not be talking to you right now?

He noticed that his mouth was dry from the strain. He swallowed a few swallows of spit and somehow managed to squeeze out a word.

'...No, I want to listen to you now.'

She was nervous about this confession, too.
Would he be pleased?
It was only her wish. She wasn't sure.

'...Well, that's about the reason I'm off work right now.'

Wow, was that his bad prediction coming true? His heart rate increased. Sweat trickled down to his hands on his lap.

'...about your illness?'

'I'm not sick, exactly. But I am certain that I need my rest.'

'...what is it that you need to rest?'

'Hmmm, that's probably a process that a lot of women go through.'

'...I'm not sure.'

His mind was in turmoil.
What was she trying to tell him?
She goes too far!

'...You said you wanted to continue to be with us, didn't you?'

'Yes.'

'Shouldn't you be able to keep your promise of two?'

'What?'

She takes his hand and gently places it on her lower abdomen.

'Three. Will you continue to be with me?'

He didn't speak a word, nor did he move his hand that touched hers.

'...Wouldn't you want this? And if so, I'm alone...'

'Why did you hide it from me?'

He muttered in a trembling voice.
Is he angry?
To her decision?
That she was hiding it from you?

'...because I was afraid.'

'What?'

'I learned of this fact after I had said goodbye to you. I was going to tell you at once. But there were rumors about you with another woman. I wasn't confident that you would accept this news, as I thought you had already found a new path. So I didn't think I should tell you that.'

'Did you intend to raise her alone?'

'Yes. I wasn't going to choose not to raise him. People will ask questions about the baby's father. But I was going to keep it a secret.'

'...There's no way I can hide it. I think I would be convinced if I knew that fact. Did you think you could hide it from me as well?'

'...even if you had known we had the option to live as strangers.'

'...you're a cruel woman.'

'...'

'I can't believe you've kept this wonderful news from me!'

He hugged her tightly and cried out. He was a little angry at her for hiding everything, but he was so full of joy that he covered it up.

'You're too strong...It hurts.'

'Wow! I'm sorry. I'm going to hug you so that I don't crush our child!'

He was filled with joy that all his previous fears were removed. A pleasant surprise!

I think there were a number of signs when I thought about it.
Vomiting.
Being sensitive to smells.
Avoiding caffeine.
Oh my God! How could he not see that?

He couldn't contain his pleasure that surpassed his surprise. He excitedly placed his hands on her lower abdomen and began to speak.

'Good morning, my dear. Little boy?Girl?'

'...you're too quick-witted. I don't know yet.'

She stroked his hair gently with a slightly dumbfounded look on her face. His dark hair nuzzled against her shoulder and she felt warmth envelop her.

'Thank you.'

She smiled tantalizingly as he whispered into her neck as he held her close.

'Well...um...she's, um...how old is baby?'

'...two months.'

'...wow.'

The day you came unexpectedly to our house.

'Do you remember that?'
And she put her hand on his cheek.
There was no way he was going to forget it, no way he was going to remember it. The day he held her with the excuse that they were "close friends".

'So you heard. I asked you if you regret your actions that day...You're a liar.'

'...If we'd faced each other properly that day, you wouldn't have suffered alone. I'm sorry.'

'It's okay. I should have told you sooner. I'm sorry.'

The way the two of them took turns apologizing to each other was hilarious and they blurted out.

'Let's stop now.'

'Let's do it.'

Now there was only the two of them sharing their secrets and happiness, and the proof of their love for each other.
